Lorena Marcum Brockman

    Lorena Marcum Brockman was born in Jackson County, Kentucky, on September 7, 1938, and departed this life on Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Marcum-Wallace Hospital in Irvine, Kentucky, being 85 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Stanton D. and Velma Reece Marcum.
    Lorena is survived by three children, James Newman, Sherry Brinegar and Kelvin Newman, all of Irvine; nine grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; two brothers, Jackie Marcum of McKee and James Elmon Marcum (Brenda) of Berea; and two sisters, Carolyn Brandenburg (Eugene) of Mt. Vernon and Joy Marcum of Brodhead. She is also survived by a namesake, Lorena McKinney of Irvine; and by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
    In addition to her parents, Lorena was preceded in death by one son, Anthony Dale Newman; one grandson, Jamie L. Hays; one brother, Dennis Dotson Marcum; and two sisters, Mary K. Isaacs and Hope Marcum.
    Lorena was a member of the Easter Valley Baptist Church. She was a caregiver and worked at this profession from a young age, with baby sitting or caring for the elderly or disabled. She did this for many years and was loved dearly by all those she served. She was also dearly loved by her family and has left them with many wonderful memories.
    Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Lakes Funeral Home, 1181 Main Street South in McKee with Bro. Delorne Smith officiating. Burial to follow in the Marcum Memorial Cemetery (133 Wild Dog Trail Rd, McKee, KY) in New Zion area.
    Pallbearers will be her grandsons Darrin, Dustin, and Dylan Newman, and Chris Hays; her nephew, Timothy Mays, and her nephew-in-law, Charlie Skelton.

    Deborah Lethgo Hounshell age 69, widow of Milford Hounshell who passed away in January 2023, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023 after a brief illness.
    She was born in Berea to the late William Lethgo and Patsy Pullins Lethgo. Deborah was a former secretary for Foley Middle Schools.
    Mrs. Hounshell is survived by her son, William Hounshell (Kristy); her sister, Lynn Zieverink (Joe); her grandson, Kason Hounshell; her aunts, Linda Lethgo and Doris Lethgo and her cousin, Dena Swim; her uncle, Eddie Pullins (Hosea Lee) and her cousin, Allen Pullins; her sister-in-law, Martha Louise Neal; and her brother-in-law, Ronald Hounshell (Lisa).
    Graveside services will be held Monday, July 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Berea Cemetery; burial will also take place at the cemetery.

Wendell Eugene Means

    Wendell Eugene Means, 68, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at his home.
    He was born in Clark County, Kentucky on June 9, 1955, the son of the late Orbin and Lola Hale Means. For many years, Wendell took care of cemetery maintenance as well as handling grave digging and setting tents for the local funeral homes. After retirement, he enjoyed front porch sitting, being with his grandchildren and collecting tractors and especially model trains. In his younger years, Wendell attended and was baptized at the Viney Fork Baptist Church.
    Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Rickie Parker Means; his children, Wendy Lynch (Sidney) and Adam Means (Tischa); two brothers, Hubert Means and Bruce Means; three sisters, Bernice Henderson (Bill), Mary Hurt (Jim), and Vickie Means; seven grandchildren, Sidney Lynch, Jr. (Odessa), Whitney Means, Kristie Lynch (Kacie), Avondia Means, Adam Kristopher Means, Cloe Means, and Aubrey Francis; and seven great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other extended family and friends.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Steve Allen Means, Johnnie Means, Roger Means, and Bev Means; and one sister, Nannie McElroy.
    Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 15, 2023, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, 328 West Main Street, Richmond, with Rev. Johnathan Tussey officiating. Burial will follow in the Flatwoods Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m., Friday, June 14th at the funeral home.

James Rowland Tipton

    James Rowland Tipton, age 99, husband of the late Myrtle Rhea Tipton, died on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
    He was born on July 25, 1923 in Union City, Kentucky to the late Tom R. Tipton and Carolina Broaddus Tipton. He was a retired employee of IBM where he was a maintenance supervisor, and he was a farmer in Waco, Kentucky. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the 8th Air Force in Norwich, England. James was a right waist gunner and in charge of bomb armament. He was a POW at Stalag 17B for 13 months. Mr. Tipton was a faithful member of the Waco Baptist Church for 91 years.
    Survivors include his sons, Paul Tipton (Mary Ann) of Conway, Arkansas and Kyle Tipton (Dorothy) of Berea; daughters, Deborah Broaddus (Earl), Elsie Tipton, both of Richmond, and Elizabeth Brown (Wayne) of Paris, Kentucky; a step-son, Bill Newcom of Waco, Kentucky; grandchildren, Rebecca Jackson (Aaron), Jason Tipton (Lea), Mark Tipton, Gary Tipton (Larissa) and Justin Broaddus (Melissa); great grandchildren, Blake, Christopher, Annabelle, Samantha and Robert Jackson, Elizabeth and Noah Tipton; Luke, Kali, Bella and Lyla Tipton; Logan and Temperance Tipton; Shawn Boyd and Samuel Broaddus; step-grandchildren, Tommy and Phillip Newcom and Christy Clements; and a sister, Anna Francis Barfield.
    He was preceded in death also by a brother, Charles “Buster” Tipton and s sister, Betty Jean Mayfield.
    Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Malcom Hester and Bro. David Johnson officiating. Burial followed in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation was from 10-11 a.m., Saturday.
    Pallbearers were his grandsons and Aaron Jackson.
    Honorary pallbearers were Toby Honaker, Billy Ray Hughes, Irv Whicker, Pat and Ronnie Aldridge and the members of the Waco Baptist Church Senior Men’s Sunday School Class.

William Troy Richardson

    William Troy Richardson, age 67, of East Main Street in Frankfort, Kentucky, passed away Friday, July 7, 2023, at his home following a short illness.
    He was born July 2, 1956, in Estill County and was the son of the late Gilbert and Emerine McIntosh Richardson. He was a retired construction worker and he had lived in Frankfort for most of his life.
    Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Getty Richardson, and is survived by two sons: Justin Richardson (Autumn) and Travis Richardson, both of Somerset; one stepdaughter, Sesemie Bradshaw of Frankfort; three sisters: Ethel Sparks of Carlisle, Pearl Powell (Tommy) of Estill County, and Ora Hall (Earl) of Cynthiana; two brothers: Eddie Richardson (Sue) and Johnny Richardson, both of Estill County; three grandchildren: River Richardson, Oakley Richardson, and Jaden Rogers; and his companion, Betty Threadgill.
    In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Emma King; and two brothers, Gilbert Wayne Richardson and Buel C. Richardson.
    Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 13, 2023, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Earl Hall officiating. Burial will be at the Gray Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

    Elizabeth Ann Sizemore, age 60, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
    Elizabeth was born in Lexington, Kentucky on January 26, 1963, to the late Wilburn Pete Smith and Delores Alcorn Larrison.
    In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jessie Miller.
    Mrs. Sizemore is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Floyd Sizemore; her four children, Chris, Timothy, William and Alissa Sizemore; seven grandchildren, Timothy, Travis, Destiny, Hannah; one brother, Eddie Alcorn; and one sister, Candy Miller; along with many other nieces and nephews and relatives and friends to miss her and mourn her passing.
    Funeral services for Elizabeth Ann Sizemore will be conducted on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals. Brother Glenn Sizemore will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Sizemore Family Cemetery in Jackson, Kentucky. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. on Saturday until the time of services at 1:00 p.m.

    Barbara Lee Reese Hunt, age 80, of Geneva Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at the St. Joseph Hospital, following a sudden illness.
    She was born June 26, 1943, in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Hugh Bryson and Elena Tuttle Reese. She was a retired cosmetologist and former owner of Merle Norman and the Ladyaire Beauty Salon. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, the Marcum and Wallace Ladies Auxiliary and the Estill County Homemakers.
    Mrs. Hunt is survived by her daughter, Debbie Jenkins; one grandchild, Morgan Watkins (Michael); and three great grandchildren, Reagan Watkins, Beckett Reese Watkins, and Remi Gene Watkins.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Eugene Hunt; one sister, Peggy Walling; and two brothers, Joe Reece and Dwight Bruce “Ike” Reese.
    Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 8, 2023, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

    Billy Hiram Hall, age 89, of Turpin Ridge in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023, at his home following a long illness.
    He was born February 2, 1934, in Estill County and was the son of the late R.J. and Dollie Tuttle Hall. He served in the National Guard and was a retired brick mason. He was an avid coon hunter and was a member of the Coon Hunters Association. He was a member of the Providence Baptist Church and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
    Mr. Hall is survived by his wife, Doris Riddell Hall; two daughters, Janice Combs (Paul) and Pamela Young (Jim), both of Irvine; three sons: Darrell Hall (Lou Ann), Jerry Hall (Kim), and Kevin Hall (Sandy), all of Irvine; one sister, Patricia Martin (Jim) of LaGrange; one brother, Farrell Hall (Sue), of Madison County; two sisters-in-law: Mary Hall of Wilmore and Loretta Hall of Richmond; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Lowell, David, Wayne, and Norman Hall.

Brenda Joyce Samples Hardy

    Brenda Joyce Samples Hardy, age 79, born February 15, 1944, to the late Emza Howell and Oscar Samples, passed away Friday, June 30, 2023, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
    After graduating from Estill County High School and Eastern Kentucky University, Brenda began her career with Kentucky Central Bank. In the fall of 1966, she began teaching business at Estill High, and immediately thereafter married the love of her life, Butch. After the birth of their daughter Michelle and son Michael, she and Butch together founded Hardy Oil Company, both still in their roles as President and Secretary for its entire 50 years. Brenda was a member of Rice Station Christian Church, where she played the organ and taught Sunday School for many years.
    Mrs. Hardy is survived by her husband of 57 years, H.T. “Butch” Hardy III; one daughter, Michelle Osborne (Greg); one son, Michael Hardy (Anissa); sox grandchildren, Meredith Crowe (Tanner), Madeline Napier (Isaac), Marlowe Hardy, Berkley Hardy, Katelyn Osborne and Brandon Osborne; and one brother, Charles Samples

    Mallie Roberta Warrick, age 89, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023, at the Spring Hill Singing Woods in Dayton following a long illness.
    She was born October 1, 1933, in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Willie and Armilda Richardson Estes. She was a retired Carhartt, Inc. employee and a member of the Bethel Christian Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Warrick is survived by two step-grandchildren: Brad Allen Scherzinger and Amber Lynn Scherzinger; one step-great grandchild, Camron Scherzinger; two nieces: Terry Eaton Samples and Roxanna Redick; and two nephews: Tommy Rice and Scott Estes.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Harold Brandenburg and Morris Warrick; her stepdaughter, Jane Scherzinger; two sisters: Ina Jean Samples and Nettie Wood; and two brothers, Raymond and Bernice Estes.

Margie M. Estes Putteet

    Margie M. Estes Putteet, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at her home. She was the widow of Charles “Chuck” Putteet who passed away in 2012.
    Margie was born on August 21, 1947 on Barnes Mountain in Estill County and was the daughter of Robert G. and Mary Sparks Estes, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, crafting, and making homemade candy.
    Survivors include three children, Steven C. Putteet, Tina M. Murphy, and Terry L. Clark (Ernest); one grandchild, Brandon L.C. Putteet; one brother, Delco Estes; one sister, Aggie Wells; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.
    In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ezekiel Estes and Glen Ray Estes; and six sisters, Mabel Newton, Tina Smelko, Glendeen Mitchell, Candace Moore, Yumonda McIntosh, and Margaret Morris.
    A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 3, 2023 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond, with Chaplain Sally Iseral officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
    Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at the funeral home.

    Al Lola Covey, age 78, of Cardinal Court in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at his home following a long illness.
    He was born December 8, 1944, in Estill County and was the son of the late Almassa and Florence Gray Covey. He retired from Avon and attended the Turning Point Apostolic Church. He was a United States Marine Veteran who served during the Vietnam Conflict, and he had lived in Estill County for most of his life.
    Mr. Covey was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Louise Edmonson Covey; and is survived by one daughter, Kim Sparks of Estill County; one son, Al Dwayne Covey (Pamela) of Indiana; four sisters: Diane Frymymer of Estill County, Sherry Covey of Clark County, Mickie Embs and Carolyn Covey, both of Estill County; two brothers, Colman Covey of Madison County and Gary Covey of Somerset; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Pam Brandenburg and Leatha Berger; and two brothers, Pete and Leon Covey.
    Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 1, 2023, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry McIntosh officiating. Burial was at the Crowe Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday, June 30th from 6-9 p.m.

    Jason Ray Roberts, age 46, husband Katie Murphy Roberts, passed away Friday, July 14, 2023 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington, Kentucky.
    He was born February 21, 1977 in Lexington, Kentucky to the late Thomas R. Roberts and Karen Powell Roberts. Jason was a employee of Walmart of Mt. Sterling.
    Survivors include his wife, Katie Roberts; his mother, Karen Roberts; three sons, Conner Roberts, Jacob Roberts, and Hudson Roberts; a sister, Kirsten Roberts; and his grandmother, Thelma Powell.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas R. Roberts; and grandparents, Maxine Profitt, Linville Profitt, and Shelby Powell.
    Services will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2023, 11:00 a.m., Wells Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton, by Bro. Harold Kelly. Visitation will be held on Monday, 6-9 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in West Bend Cemetery, Clay City.

Brandon Michael Neal

    Brandon Michael Neal, age 39, of Stanton, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at his residence.
    Born in Winchester, Kentucky, on July 5, 1984, he was the son of David Neal and Kathy Crouch Neal. Brandon’s entire world was his kids. He was a self-employed construction worker who took great pride in wood working and laying tile. He also loved to search for agate rocks.
    Brandon was preceded in death by his son, Burnis Michael Neal.
    Along with his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Chris Neal (Jennifer) of Georgetown and Kelly Neal (Crystal) of Stanton; one sister, Mandy Wallace (Bart) of Nashville, Tennessee; co-parent, Tina Eaton Stall and one son, Owen Cyrus Neal, one daughter, Amelia Katherine Neal, and two special daughters, Olivia Eaton and Marissa Eaton, all of Springfield, Missouri.
    Visitation was held at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue in Stanton from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2023. Funeral services officiated by Rev. Steve Caudill, Bro. Williard Estep and Fred Crouch were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 15th at the funeral home.
    Burial was at Resthaven Cemetery in Stanton with Chris Neal, Ryan Neal, Kelly Neal, Bart Wallace, Bob Crouch, Logan Neal and Mandy Wallace serving as active pallbearers.

    Freda Roberts, age 75, widow of Dave Roberts, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.
    She was born November 7, 1947 in Stanton, Kentucky to the late John M. and Virginia Case Rogers. She was a member of the Morris Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
    Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Mays (Tommy) and Robbin Faulkner (James); and her beloved grandchildren, Lucas Faulkner (Allie Adkins), Gracie Mays, and Lorri Faulkner.
    Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her parents, John and Virginia Rogers; and husband, Dave Roberts.
    Services will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023, 11:00 a.m., by Bro. Nick Wright and Bro. Kevin Chaney at Wells Funeral Home 777 West College Avenue, Stanton. Visitation will be held Friday, July 14th, 5-9 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery with her children and grandchildren serving as pallbearers.

    Carter James Freeman, beloved son of Travis Freeman and Samantha Nidiffer Haddix went to be with the Lord, Monday, July 10, 2023.
    He was born at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky, on July 9, 2023.
    Carter is survived by his loving parents, Travis Freeman and Samantha Nidiffer Haddix of Campton, Kentucky; three brothers, Hunter Haddix, Waylon Haddix, both of Campton, and Isaiah Dunaway of Stanton; one sister, Kyleigh Freeman of Campton; his paternal grandparents, Ronald and Stephanie Cain of Stanton; his maternal grandfather, Clyde Mullins and his maternal grandparents, Thomas Moon (Hope) of Mount Sterling.
    He was preceded in death by one brother, Wesley Haddix; and his maternal grandmother, Deborah Mullins.
    He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and loved ones to mourn his passing.

William A. "Willie" Thorpe

    William A. "Willie" Thorpe, age 65, passed away Monday, July 10, 2023 at his home.
    He was born June 17, 1958 in Winchester, Kentucky, to the late Robert Joseph "Joe" Thorpe and the late Ima Jean Spencer Thorpe Ashley.
    Willie lived his life to the fullest and loved riding motorcycles.
    Survivors include two sons, Ian Thorpe of Stanton and Ayden Harper of Clay City; asister, Pamela Crowe (Jimmy); nieces, Adria Crowe (Kendell Knox), Miranda Nolan (Mark), and Jincy Thorpe; great-nephews, Declan Nolan, Cian Nolan, and Janson McIntosh.
    He was preceded in death by parents, Joe Thorpe, Ima Jean Ashley, and Virgil Ashley; a sister, Tina Thorpe; and a brother, Robert Edward Thorpe.
    A celebration of life will be held Monday, July 17, 2023, 3:00 p.m., at Wells Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton, by Bro. Brad Epperson and Mark Nolan. Burial will be in Thorpe Cemetery, Hatton Creek, Stanton.

    Joan D. Miller, 76, widow of Roscoe Miller, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2023 at her home.
    She was born March 14, 1947 in Stanton to the late Holt and Nell Darrell Friend. She was a member of the Powell's Valley Baptist Church and retired from Natural Bridge State Park as housekeeping supervisor.
    Survivors include step-daughters, Irene Brandenburg (Russell Hobbs), Beattyville; Linda Porter (Jim), Campton; and Sue Ledford (Steve), Slade; a step-son, Johnny Miller (Judy), Richmond; nephews, Marvin (Halsey Jr. Petrea) , Trenton, Ohio; Mike Halsey (Sharon), Lakeland, Florida; Chris Halsey (Shawna), Trenton, Ohio; and Denzel Friend, Stanton; a niece, Linda Kahler, Stanton, Sandi, Brenda; step-grandchildren, Billy Caudill (Lisa), Dorothy Moore (Rob), David Caudill (Vickie), John Porter (April), Daniel Porter (Thao), and Becky Cunningham (R.D.); special friends, Sandra & Rodney Lewis, Karen Tipton, and Rosie Drake; a host of great nieces, nephews, and step great-grandchildren.

James Dixon "George" Jones III

    James Dixon "George" Jones III of Rogers, Kentucky, departed this life Monday, July 3, 2023 at the age of 46 years.
    He was a son of the late Carolyn Sue Jamison Carpenter, born in West Liberty, Kentucky, on February 10, 1977. He was a general laborer by trade.
    George had a love for life, people, and this vast universe in which we live. His heart was full of love and his hands were full of magic, the extent of which only those who knew and loved him best were aware of. His wish for all of us who are mourning is to live life for the moment you are in now and to live it to its fullest, taking nothing and no one for granted. He would tell you, as he always told everyone, "If you love someone, tell them you love them every time you get the chance, and make the time you are granted on this Earth count."
    He is survived by one son, Travis Dixon Grant Lawson and his mother, Rebecca Lawson of Valeria, Kentucky; one brother, George William Jones (Kristie) of Mt. Sterling; two sisters, Melissa Trent of Rogers and Laura Rogers (Dean) of Clay City; one uncle, Ernie Jamison; one aunt, Brenda Creech; and a very special cousin, whom he viewed as his brother, Kevin Donathan and wife LeAnn whom he also loved dearly, of Campton; just as he considered each of the men listed as pallbearers his brothers, for life.
    "George" was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Sue Jamison Carpenter; his maternal grandmother, Sylvia Creech; and his maternal grandfather, Elwood Jamison.
    He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
    A graveside service was held at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the Helton Cemetery, Wolfe County, Kentucky.
    Serving as pallbearers were Travis Lawson, Kevin Donathan, Shawn Donathan, Josh Hollon, Joshua Stewart, Henry Cline, Eric Lyn Brewer and Matthew T. Jamison.     Sandy Hale Roy, 80, widow of Cleetis Roy, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023 at UK Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
    She was born March 15, 1943 in Oneida, Tennessee, to the late Chester Lee and Suzie Coleman Taylor. A beloved fixture of the Powell County community, she lived a very full life as a teacher, dietician, seamstress, truck driver, referee, realtor, real estate broker, and nurse.
    Survivors include one daughter, Jodie Brandenburg (Mark); one son, Johnny Hale (Stephanie); seven grandchildren, Madeline Brandenburg, Jacob Brandenburg, Kyle Roy (Beth), David Roy, Lyssa Renk (Zack), Adam Roy (Erin), and Taylor Roy; a step-son, Tim Roy (Carie); two sisters-in-law, Susan Taylor and Vicki Taylor; a special companion, Gloyd Lee; and Becky Eagan, who was like a daughter.
    She was preceded in death by husband, Cleetis Roy; her parents, Chester and Suzie Taylor; a brother, Robert Taylor; and a step-son, Jeff Roy.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Wells Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue in Stanton with Bro. Brad Epperson officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 5th at the funeral home beginning at 4:00 p.m. for family and 5:00 p.m. for friends.
    Burial will be at Stonegate Cemetery directly following the funeral with Kyle Roy, Rob Taylor, Mark Brandenburg, Jacob Brandenburg, Tyler Smith, and John Parks serving as pallbearers.
    Honorary pallbearers include Powell County Health Department employees, Willie Brewer, C.B. Martin, the Bruen's Gang, Hillbilly Flywheelers, Smokehouse & General Store Kids, and Ryan Thacker.

    She was born August 29, 1952 in Winchester, Kentucky, to John and Mary Fulks. She was an employee of Subway in Clay City.
    Rosemary is survived by a son, Joseph Creech (Savanna) of Richmond; a daughter, Tamara Buckler (Doug Carmichael) of Clay City; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Thomas Fulks; and a sister, Dorothy Clemons.
    Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 2, 2023 at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel in Clay City. Friends may visit Sunday from 12:00 Noon till time of the service.

    Phillip Douglas Pelfrey, age 58, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Clark Regional Medical Center, Winchester, Kentucky.
    He was born July 26, 1964 in Campton, Kentucky to the late Donald Elmer Pelfrey and to Ladonna Rogers Pelfrey.
    Survivors include his mother, Ladonna Rogers Pelfrey; a daughter, Megan Adams (Andrew Fugate); a brother, Brian Pelfrey (Karen); and five grandchildren, Eli Pelfrey, Audrey Fugate, Stetson Fugate, Gaven Fugate, and Ryleigh Fugate.
    Services will be held Sunday, July 2, 2023, 2:00 p.m., by Bro. Anthony Molihan at Wells Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton. Visitation was on Saturday, July 1st after 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial is in Resthaven Cemetery with cousins serving as active and honorary pallbearers.

    Rev. Mary Lou Adams, age 69, wife of Larry Adams, passed away Monday, June 26, 2023, at her home in Clark County, Kentucky.
    Born January 14, 1954, in Powell County, she was the daughter of the late Matt and Madgalene Rogers Abney. Over the years she had worked in department stores, factories, and presently she was the Reverend at Green Pastures Church.
    In addition to her loving husband of 29 years, she is survived by two sons, Kyle Adams and Barry Adams; one grandchild, Archer; two siblings, Bobby Abney (Elsie) and Jimmy Abney (Steven); two nephews, Adam Wayne Abney and Matthew Randall; a niece, Crystal Parker; a great nephew, Damien Banks; and a great niece, Alex Byrd.
    She was preceded in death by two of her siblings, Linda Faw and Jackie Abney.
    Services were held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 30, 2023, at the Leon Pace Memorial Chapel, next to Scobee Funeral Home. Burial was at Clarmont Memorial Gardens. Visitation was from 12:00 Noon until time of service.
