Patricia Louise Hall, 95
|
Patricia Louise Hall, age 95, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed peacefully from this world on Monday, August 28, 2023, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family. Patty was born July 1, 1928, in Taylorsville, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late William Paul Ritter and Helen Elizabeth (Harbison) Ritter.
She was a retired employee of the Estill County School System, where she first worked as a cook and later became a teacher’s aide for the Estill County Middle School. She was a member of Rice Station Christian Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and enjoyed singing in the choir.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Earl W. Hall, and beautiful daughter, Denise Lynn Hall.
Patty’s life was devoted to the service of the Estill County community. This dedication is confirmed by her memberships of the following civic organizations throughout her life: Area 4H Council (47 years, Sec./Treasurer); Estill County Fair Board Association (Sec./Treasurer); Daughters of the American Revolution, Elisha Witt Chapter (Past Regent); Chapter 357 Eastern Star; Garden Club (Past President); Estill County Homemakers Club (Past Chairman); Estill County Homemakers Chorus; Kentucky State Chorus; Estill County Extension Council (1960s-1970s); Estill County Development Association (1960s-1970s), Teen Sunday School Teacher; a sponsor of the 4H project leader; and a sponsor of the Estill County 4H Teen Club where she and her husband Earl sponsored teen events in the county such as Sock Hops (do you remember dancing to the music of the local band, The Purple Bus Stop?), rummage sales at the Court House, and other teen projects. Patty’s passion for her community was recognized in 1968 when she was selected for the “Outstanding Civic Leaders of America” award. She was one of 5,000 leaders in the United States selected for this recognition. She would later receive the Conrad Feltner Lifetime Achievement and Hall of Fame award for her contribution of 47 years to the Kentucky 4H program.
Patty, along with her husband Earl, were professional photographers. If you lived in Estill County from the 60s through the 90s, you probably had your wedding, anniversary, birthday, prom, or sports picture snapped by Hall’s Photography. Patty carried on the business after her husband’s passing in 1980. Patty was also a fabulous cake decorator and caterer.
While Patty’s civic and business interests may seem overwhelming, there’s more: Patty was a devoted wife to Earl and the best mom ever to her son and daughter, Dennis and Denise. Later in her life, her focus and passion were directed toward her grandchildren. It was important for her that they be grounded and have a strong moral compass to guide them.
Patty is survived by her son, Dennis Lee Hall (Gina Arvin); grandson, Todd Dunaway, with great-grandsons, Patrick and Logan; granddaughter, Alexandria Hall Singleton (Trent), with great-granddaughter, Eleanor Grey; granddaughter, Dani Long (Kris) with great-grandsons, Xadyn, Maxwell, and Grant Wilder. Patty is also survived by the many children, young and old alike, that she and Earl helped to nurture and guide throughout their lives.
Rest in peace, beloved wife, mom, Nanna, and cherished friend of our wonderful community. A rest so well deserved.
The family of Patricia Louise Hall would like to give thanks to Mom’s amazing caregivers, Betty Brookshire and Martha Floyd.
