Rufford Clarence “RC” Puckett

    Rufford Clarence “RC” Puckett, age 90, of Wisemantown Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the Irvine Health and Rehab Center following a short illness.
    He was born January 8, 1933, in Lee County and was the son of the late Elva and Mamie Rawlins Puckett. He was a Carpenter and a Renowned Song Writer. He had lived in Estill County and Miamisburg, Ohio all his life.
    Mr. Puckett is survived by one daughter, Roxie Carol McKinney (Johnny Otis) of Estill County; a daughter-in-law, Janet Puckett Stevens of Estill County; five grandchildren, Shad Puckett (Virginia), Shayne Puckett (Candi), Shylah McIntosh (Steve), Shawn Puckett, and Shara Rauch (Langley), 13 great grandchildren, seven great, great grandchildren; and a special friend, Kathryn (Lacey)Edwards.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Rexford C. Puckett and Randall Cheyenne Puckett; three sisters, Faye McKinney, San Raney, and Joyce Stevens; two half-sisters, Mollie Asker and Eva Baker; and three brothers, Bruce Puckett, Ross Puckett, and Elva Puckett Jr.
    Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, September 27, 2023, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Eddie Eve officiating. Burial will be at the Witt Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m.
    Pallbearers are Jericho Puckett, Dalton McIntosh, Colton Puckett, Austin Rauch, Dustin Puckett, and Michael Puckett.
    Honorary pallbearers are Shayne Puckett, Shawn Puckett, and Shad Puckett.

    Sherry Ann Merritt, age 59, wife of William “Bean” Merritt, passed away Friday, September 22, 2023.
    She was born April 15, 1964, in Estill County, Kentucky, to the late Clarence Sparks and Betty Disney Asbury. She was the manager of Kentucky Fried Chicken and attended the Church of Living God (Franklin Avenue).
    In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her children, Jennifer Simpkins (Kevin), Shawn Embs (Whitney), Brandon Merritt (Ashleigh), Ryan Embs (Blainey), and Cory Embs (Mikaela); grandchildren, Skyler Embs, Gavin Simpkins, Isaac Embs, Braelyn Embs, Alexis Simpkins, Aiden Merritt, Ella Embs, Isaah Embs, Amelia Merritt, and Rylan Embs; great grandchildren, Parker Embs and Cole Embs; siblings, Hilda Wilson, Mary Kay Haggard, Jay Galloway (Diane), Danny Galloway (Kathy), Wanda Hundley (Jerry), and Kenneth Sparks (Phyllis); and nieces and nephews, Jamie, Tony, Carmen, Chris, Tiffany, Jason, Bridgette, Chasity, Kenneth Wayne, Tonya, Kenny, and Dana.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Dustin Powell; a sister, Margie Watson; and nieces and nephews, April, Daniel, Ronnie, and Joe.
    Visitation is Monday 4-6:30 p.m. with services 6:30-7 p.m. at the the Church of Living God, 114 Franklin Road, Winchester.

Gene David “Moose” Rawlins

    Gene David “Moose” Rawlins, age 67, of Ida Grace Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, September 22, 2023, at the Georgetown Community Hospital following a long illness.
    He was born November 3, 1955, in Estill County and was the son of the late Catherine Rawlins Ashcraft. He was a retired Assistant Chief with the Irvine Fire Department, a retired Bluegrass Army Depot employee, and a former Allen Company employee. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
    Mr. Rawlins is survived by his best friend and caregiver, Delores Rawlins; two brothers, Glynn Rawlins (Magnolia) of Winchester and Jerry Rawlins (Sharon) of Richmond; one grandchild, Joshua Chase Rawlins (Caitlin); one nephew, Robert Jasin Rawlins; and a special stepdaughter, Rita Crouch Watts.
    In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his son, Joshua David Rawlins.
    He will also be missed by many other relatives and friends.
    Funeral services will be conducted Monday, September 25, 2023, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home. Burial will be at the West Irvine Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

    Stephanie E. Berryman, age 48, of Irvine, Kentucky departed this life on September 15, 2023, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
    She was born on June 3, 1975, in Richmond, Kentucky to the late Joyce Marcum Young and Earl Young.
    In addition to her mother, Stephanie is preceded in death by her daughter, Whitney Berryman; and one brother, Denny Glen Young.
    Survivors include her father, Earl Young; her ex-husband, Jeffrey Berryman; two children, Jeffrey Berryman II and Leandrea Berryman; one granddaughter, Taelor Berryman; two brothers, Earl Young Jr. and Eddie Young; four sisters, Charlene Begley, Wilma Rose, Tina Seargent and Crystal Baranowski; along with many other relatives and friends to miss her and mourn her passing,

Patricia Sue Griffin

    Patricia Sue Griffin, age 79, of Sid Griffin Road in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 18, 2023, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a short illness.
    She was born December 8, 1943, in Breathitt County and was the daughter of the late Carl and Lillie Gabbard King. She was a homemaker and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
    Mrs. Griffin is survived by three daughters, Debra Collier (Tony) of Nicholasville, Teresa Arnold and Kimberly Richardson (Dwight), both of Irvine; one sister, Betty Faye Florence, Paris; six grandchildren: Anthony Collier, Brandon Collier, Jamie Horn, Jennifer Horn, Sydney Richardson, and Karlee Richardson; and five great grandchildren, Carter, Caroline, Devyn, Jadyn, and Taryn.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Price Griffin; two sisters, Wilma Jean Hall and Maxine Spicer; and two brothers, Matt and Jack King.
    Funeral services were conducted Friday, September 22, 2023, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home with Tim Hall officiating. Burial was at the West Irvine Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Jimmy Daryl Hall, age 70

    Jimmy Daryl Hall, age 70, husband of Sandra Farmer Hall of Stanton, Kentucky, passed into the arms of Jesus at CHI Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington on Monday, September 18, 2023.
    He was born in Pikeville, Kentucky, on August 18, 1953, to the late Haskell and Virginia Turner Hall. Jim cherished his family deeply, and his grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy.
    He graduated from Wheelwright High School and attended Alice Lloyd College and Morehead State University. He was an active member of Bowen First Church of God, having served as a former church council chair and a member of Gideon's International. Jim held his church family in high regard and looked forward to attending services every week. He went on two mission trips to Honduras with the Stanton Christian Church, an experience he treasured.
    Jim taught Chemistry at Powell County High School as a teacher for the Powell County Board of Education. He also served as a teacher representative on the site-based council, was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, and was honored as a Distinguished Educator by the Air Force Recruiting Service. Jim sponsored the Upper Room at Powell County High School. He enjoyed traveling, collecting hats from every destination. Jim loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing, with a particular sense of pride in the elk he had hunted.
    In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Tim Addison; and his brother, James Hall.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Jonathan Garrett Hall (Rachel LeAnn) of Orange Beach, Alabama; his daughter, Rachel Ellen Miller (D.J.) of Bowen; his sister, Joan Caldwell of Lexington; his mother-in-law, Faye Garrett; his aunt, Connie Crissman of Amelia, Ohio; four grandchildren: Chase Garrett, Oaklee Clay, Allyson Hope and Alexis Grace; and several nieces and nephews.
    Visitation was held from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton. Funeral services officiated by Brother Terry Frerichs were held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 22, 2023. Burial will be held at Stanton Cemetery with Chase Garrett Hall, D.J. Miller, James Addison, Tim Abner, Todd Caldwell, Ben Caldwell, John Farmer and Darrell Billings serving as active pallbearers.

    Joshua Steve Harrison, age 41, of Cushing, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023.
    He was born December 10, 1981, in Richmond, Kentucky to Randall Steve Harrison and Lucy Arvin.
    Joshua was married to Shonna Smith in April 2018; the couple moved to Cushing where Joshua worked as a Senior Superintendent for the pipeline. Joshua loved spending time with his kids.
    He is survived by his wife, Shonna; his children, Bailey Smith, Brison Harrison, both of Cushing, Oklahoma; and Katie Sparks of Irvine; his parents, Randall Steve Harrison of Richmond, Kentucky and Lucy Arvin and Bill of Cushing; his grandparents, Louise Arvin and Vincent and Lucille Harrison, all of Irvine; in-laws, Shelly Yarber of Richmond and Billy Smith of Irvine; two sisters, Shelbi Creech of Cushing and Megan Griggs of Lexington; and many other relatives and friends to miss and mourn his passing.
    A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Dailey "Doc" Thompson

    Dailey "Doc" Thompson, age 89, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, September 18, 2023, at the Marcum-Wallace Hospital in Irvine.
    He was born on October 9, 1933, in Jackson, Kentucky to the late Charlie and Erie C. Turner Thompson.
    Mr. Thompson was a retired auto worker for Ford Motor Company in Batavia, Ohio. He was a member of the Robert Burns Masonic Lodge #163 F and AM, as well as a faithful member of the Cobb Hill Crossroads Community Church and the Irvine First Church of God.
    In addition to his parents, Dailey was apreceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Wilma Hall Thompson; and a daughter; Diane Youngman; one brother, Eugene Thompson; and one sister, Cora Sebastian.
    Survivors include his four daughters, Debbie Lawson (Dave), Donna Bates (Bill), all of Independence; Darlene Hamlin of Erlanger and Sandra K. Oppenheimer of Florence; two sons, Larry Hall of Crittenden, and Wayne Hall (Jennifer) of Butler; and one brother, Paul Thompson of Butler; along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews and relatives and friends to miss him and mourn his passing.
    Funeral services for Dailey "Doc" Thompson will be conducted on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cobb Hill Crossroads Community Church. Rev. Elwood Patrick will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Cobb Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 22, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. at Lewis Home for Funerals.     Kathy Joan Bryant Dunaway, daughter of the late Ernie and Inez Pigman Bryant, was born in Hazard, Kentucky on April 17, 1951 and departed this life in Manchester, Kentucky on September 17, 2023 at the age of 72 years and 5 months.
    Kathy is survived by one daughter, Michelle Dunaway of Winchester; one son, David Dunaway of Beattyville; her sister, Joy Feist of Frankfort; five grandchildren, David Lee Dunaway (Brooke) of Irvine, Kayla Hughes of Richmond, Justin Hughes of Beattyville, and August and Ashley Dunaway, both of Stanton; ten great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Nita Faye Bryant Hurst

    Nita Faye Bryant Hurst, age 70, of Twin Creek Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023 after a brief illness due to complications from surgery.
    She was a native of Estill County, born August 5, 1953, the daughter of the late Cornelius Washington “Neal” and Viola Maureen Moore Bryant.
    Nita was preceded in death by a brother, Neal “Butch” Bryant.
    She worked as a 911 dispatcher while living in Florida and later as an L3 at the Bluegrass Army Depot at Avon from which she retired.
    She is survived by a niece, Emily Orndorff; and a nephew, Matthew Bryant.
    A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

    She was born February 27, 1984 in Richmond to Timothy and Kay Henry.
    Cynthia is survived by her mother, Kay Henry; three sons, Matthew Plowman, Johnny Ellington, and Christopher Ellington; a daughter, Kaylee Puckett; four brothers, Timothy Estill Henry, Jacob Henry, Dylan Henry, and Joseph Henry; and two sisters, Alivia Henry and Gracie Henry.
    She was preceded in death by her father, Timothy Henry; and a sister, Shelly Henry.

Wilma Elaine Everman Denney

    Wilma Elaine Everman Denney, age 87, beloved wife of 64 years to Grider Denney, of Stanton, Kentucky passed into the arms of Jesus at home on Friday, September 15, 2023.
    Wilma was born in West Bend, Kentucky on August 21, 1936, to the late Ray Everman and the late Nellie Crabtree Ewing. Wilma loved the Lord serving his Kingdom at the West Bend Methodist Church as the church treasurer, later being a member of the Clay City Baptist Church and attending near the conclusion of her life at the Stanton Presbyterian Church.
    She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Gideons International Organization and sang in a trio that performed in many churches. Wilma enjoyed reading, collecting antiques, traveling, constructing wood crafts and was an extremely good cook. She was a secretary with the office of Soil Conservation Services and later in her life at the Powell County High School.
    In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, J.C. and Grace Everman; two brothers, Billy Everman and Vernon Everman; a sister-in-law, Audrey Everman; a special cousin, Emilee Morguson; a special aunt, Thelma Ware; and many other beloved uncles, aunts, and cousins.
    In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Denney of Lexington and Susan Ibanez (John) of Danville; three grandchildren, Joshua Raines, Hannah Sanders (Chris) and Katherine Snavely; three great grandchildren, Erik Snavely, Maximus Sanders and Aurora Sanders; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Everman of Boise, Idaho; and Lorene Smith of Knoxville, Tennessee; special cousins: Wayne Everman, Sharon Knox, Diana Elam and Ronnie Everman; and she is also survived by numerous nephews, and nieces, as well as the Everman in-laws that married into the Everman family, Phyllis Everman, Melody Knox, and Ronnie Knox.
    Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services officiated by Rev. Wayne Everman will be held at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday after visitation. Burial will be held at the Stanton Cemetery.

    Mr. Henry is survived by four sons: Timothy Estill Henry, Jacob Henry, Dylan Henry, and Joseph Henry; three daughters: Cynthia Puckett, Gracie Henry, and Alivia Henry; five brothers: Robert Henry, Troy Henry, Edward Henry, Terry Henry, and Larry Henry; and two sisters, Deborah Kohlhorst and Cheryl Hardy.

    Marshall Wayne Howard, age 65, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at his residence.
    He was born September 21, 1957 in Lexington. He was a retired carpenter.
    Mr. Howard is survived by a special companion, Lena Brewer; two sons, Michael Brayman and Devin Howard; a stepson, Cody Williams; two daughters, Michelle Mosley and Dana Long; 16 grandchildren; and a sister, Libby Jo Bowman.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Linville and Christine O’Hair; and two brothers, Linville O’Hair Jr. and and John O’Hair.
    Funeral services were held Sunday, September 17, 2023 at the O’Hair Cemetery in Irvine. Friends visited at the cabin beside the cemetery from 11:00 a.m. till time of the service.

Donnie Howard Kearns

    Donnie Howard Kearns, age 80, the husband of Mary Lois McMullin Kearns, passed away Wednesday afternoon, September 13, 2023.
    He was born in Richmond, Kentucky on September 22, 1942. He was the son of the late Coleman and Beulah McQueen Kearns. Donnie was a 1962 graduate of Madison Central High School and was a retired employee of Rockwell International in Winchester. He was a faithful member of Red House Baptist Church. Donnie enjoyed being with his family, especially his wife Mary Lois, listening to Bluegrass music, and looked forward to the Madison County Farm Tour each year.
    In addition, Donnie was a farmer. He had farmed in Estill and Powell Counties before coming to Madison County in 1993 to manage several large cattle operations. He was also a dedicated member of the Madison County Fair and Horse Show Board of Directors. After he semi-retired, he began playing golf, something he enjoyed very much. Whatever Donnie was involved with, or wherever he was, it was not as much about the event or the occasion as it was about being with people.
    Survivors include his wife Mary Lois; his children, Karen Kearns Fritts (Don) and Chris Kearns (Rachel); his stepchildren, Harold R. Ray (Terry), Rona Comley and Robbin Carey (John); two sisters, Bonnie Eltzroth (Jerry) and Connie Reynolds (Lewis Dean); five grandchildren, Devan Doty (Erienne), Lane Doty, Andrew Doty, Owen Kearns and Noah Kearns; four step-grandchildren, Laura Beth Keltner (Jordan), Chandler Ray, Lydia Carey, Gavin Ray and Sara Beth Franz (Thad); seven great grandchildren, Ella Grace Comley, James Doty, Delaney Doty, Taryn Franz, Tait Franz, Teagan Franz and Tyler Franz; as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Donna Doty.
    Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Red House Baptist Church with Pastor Dwayne Abrahamson and Rev. Gene Strange officiating.     Alfred Lynn Webb, age 63, of Leighton Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at the Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington, following a short illness.
    He was born June 17, 1960, in Lee County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Roy and Mary Frances Sparks Webb. He worked at Advance Auto Parts and he was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church #2. He had lived in Estill County for most of his life.
    Mr. Webb is survived by his wife, Charolette McKinney Webb; three sons: Walter McKinney of Estill County, Walter Blake McKinney of Jefferson County, and Harley Douglas McKinney of Estill County; two sisters, Jenny Webb (Verlin) of Estill County and Melissa “Lisa” Bowling of Madison County; three brothers: Ronnie Webb (Pliney) Estill County, Ricky Webb of McCracken County; and Danny Webb of Woodford County; and a sister-in-law, Kathleen Webb of Estill County.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel and David Webb.
    Funeral services will be conducted Monday, September 18, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Chad Brothers officiating. Burial will be at the Cane Springs Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 6-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
    Pallbearers are Walter McKinney, Johnathon Jelley, and John Bowling.

Ethel Jean Hume Turner Gross

    Ethel Jean Hume Turner Gross, age 91, of Georgetown, Kentucky, the widow of Delbert C. Gross, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
    She was born on March 13, 1932, on Turner Ridge in Madison County. She was the daughter of the late David and Neva Foley Hume. She was a homemaker, a retired employee of General Electric in Lexington and a member of the Gano Baptist Church in Georgetown. Mrs. Gross was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and wife. She was loved by all that had the honor and privilege to know her. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed family get togethers.
    Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Blakeman (Albert) and Kitty Brown; four sisters, Reba Chamberlain, Barbara Howard, Bertha Meacham (Gary), and Shalimar Christian (Jack); five grandchildren: Jason Brown (Donielle), Courtney Brown, Justin Brown (Whitney), Tyler Blakeman and Jake Turner; seven great grandchildren: Austin Brown, Kyleigh Brown, Kristin Brown, Kenadie Brown, Isabella Turner, Kashlyn Turner and Xander Brown, and one great, great grandchild, Hendrix Brown; as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
    In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, William H. Turner; one son, William Harry “Bill” Turner Jr., five brothers and three sisters.
    Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Harry Hargis officiating. Burial followed at Madison Memorial Gardens. The family received friends beginning at 11:00 a.m., Thursday morning at the funeral home.
    Serving as pallbearers were Jason Brown, Justin Brown, Tyler Blakeman, Jake Turner, Austin Brown and Albert Blakeman.

    Jennifer Ann Pingleton Lewis, age 42, of Leighton Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the Baptist Health in Richmond, following a long illness.
    She was born June 15, 1981 in Madison County and was the daughter of Virginia Long.
    Survivors in addition to her mother, include her husband, Lonnie David Lewis, Jr.; her son, Alex Dwayne Pingleton of London, Kentucky; and several grandchildren.
    Memorial services will be conducted at a later date.

    Ora Mae Dennis Bridges, age 79, widow of Lemmie D. Bridges Jr., passed away Monday, September 11, 2023, in Lexington, Kentucky.
    Born September 23, 1943 in Clark County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late R.J. and Marie Means Dennis.
    Ora was a member of the Bread of Life Assembly of God in Lexington and retired in Housekeeping Supervisor Management.
    Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Sandra Bridges, Greta Cole (Keith) and Christy Holloway; two granddaughters and four grandsons; 14 great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; two brothers and four sisters; a brother-in-law and his wife; and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
    Along with her husband of 55 years and parents, she was preceded in death by a child and three siblings.
    Funeral services for Mrs. Bridges will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Kerr Brothers 3421 Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, with Pastor David Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens in Nicholasville. Visitation will be 12:00 Noon till the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

    Margie Miller Alcorn, age 97, of John Elwood Drive in Centerville, Ohio, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, in Ohio.
    She was born December 12, 1925, in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Bertha Dozier Miller. She was a member of the Calvery Baptist Church, and she had lived in Estill County all her life.
    Mrs. Alcorn was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Alcorn; and she is survived by one sister, Betty Sue Alcorn of Dayton, Ohio; one brother, Troy Miller; and several nieces and nephews
    Funeral services was conducted Wednesday, September 13, 2023, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Roberts officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until service time at 1:00 p.m.
    Pallbearers were Larry Miller, Tom Shipp, John Stallons, Tyler Dunlap, Eric Miller, and Bart Alcorn.
