Jackie David Dial, 81

Jackie David Dial, age 81, of Laurel Street in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, following a long illness.
He was born February 8, 1942, in Adair County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Robert and Rose Wilson Dial. He was a United States Army Veteran. He was a Sales Manager for WCBR, and he attended the Millers Creek Church of God. He had lived in Estill County for most of his life.
Mr. Dial is survived by his wife, Cleta Mae Embs Dial; one daughter, Carol Renee Wright of Estill County; three sisters, Brenda Hamm of Stanford, Freida Sue Dial of Tennessee, and Judy Hadley of South Carolina; and one grandchild, Matthew Wayne Wright.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 10, 2024, 8 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Merle Travis and Bro. Bill Hounshell officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Honorary pallbearers are Don Wilson, Matthew Wright, Farris Marcum, Henry Patrick, David Humes, Glenn Snowden, and David Cox.
Paul "Gary" Ingram, 68

Paul "Gary" Ingram, age 68, of Stanton, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
He was born February 21, 1955 to Paul and Helen Ingram. He was a truck driver.
Mr. Ingram is survived by a son, Kevin Ingram; five grandchildren; and three brothers, Hubert Morrison (Glenna), Kermit Morrison (Evelin), and Roger Morrison (Sandy).
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Ingram; his mother, Helen Marie Morrison; his wife, Katherine Ingram; a son, William Ingram; a brother, George Brown; and two sisters, Louise Ledford and Violet Davis.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at the Grayson Funeral Home in Clay City with Bro. George Sparks officiating. Friends visited Tuesday from 11 a.m. till time of the service. Burial followed in the Branham Cemetery.

John David Moreland, 45

John David Moreland, age 45, of Wisemantown Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024, at his home.
He was born March 22, 1978, in Fayette County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Michael Lynn and Ann Winn Moreland. He attended the Wisemantown Methodist Church and he had lived in Estill County all his life.
Mr. Moreland is survived by one daughter, Berkley Wynne Moreland of Missouri; one sister, Amanda Lynn Toler of Estill County; one nephew, Cade Toler; and one niece, Ava Toler.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Kenneth Michael "Kenny" Morton, 71

Kenneth Michael "Kenny" Morton passed away on January 6, 2024, after a long illness at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
Kenny was born on Cane Creek in Stanton, Kentucky, on September 22, 1952, to Paul and Vina King Morton. He graduated from Vandalia Butler High School in Vandalia, Ohio. After graduating, Kenny came back to Stanton, where he spent most of his summers. He would dedicate a large portion of his work career in the automotive parts and repair industry. Most notable, Kenny would spend most of that time at Napa Auto Parts in Stanton.
He would eventually make a new work home at the Powell County Bus Garage, first as bus driver then as a bus mechanic. Kenny also kept a small home business with ATV repair, Sudden Motion ATV.
Kenny would retire and spent the majority of his retirement with his grandchildren and friends. He loved spending time with family and friends, Kentucky ball games and cooking.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Morton.
Kenny was married to his wife, Teresa Townsend Morton, for 42 years and resided in Clay City.
He leaves behind a daughter, Shona Morton Baisden of New Vienna, Ohio; two sons, Ian Morton (Bridget) of Stanton and Steven Morton of Clay City; three grandsons, Caleb and Caden Morton of New Vienna, Ohio; and Benjamin Burt of Stanton; two granddaughters, Kendall and Stella Morton of Stanton; his mother, Vina Morton; two brothers, Kevin Morton and Leslie Morton (Stephanie); and a sister, Nennia Seagraves (Curt).
Services will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024, 1 p.m., at Wells Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton, by Rev. James Harold Combs. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 10th, 6-9 p.m., at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery with Neal Hamilton, Ben Burt, Jason Shaner, Mutt Willoughby, Caleb Morton, and Jason Conner serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers serving are Kenneth Elliott, Kenneth Elliott Jr., Gary Coleman, Kendall Knox, Greg Crabtree, Caden Morton, Byron Welch, and Charles Faulkner.

Joshua Gulley, 2-months-old of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Friday, January 5, 2023.
He was the son of Joshua Gulley and Megan Cox.
Joshua is survived by his parents; a brother, Kamden Gulley; and three sisters, Zayla Cox, Paisleigh Gulley, and Kamilia Gulley.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, January 8, 2024 with Bro. Sidney Sparks officiating. Friends visited Monday from 1 p.m. till time of the service.

Lena C. Rogers, age 79, widow of Shirley Ray Rogers, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 at Clark Regional Medical Center, Winchester, Kentucky.
She was born June 14, 1944 in Campton, Kentucky to the late Orival and Cleda Alexander Wireman. Lena was devout and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was the co-owner of Ray Rogers Insurance Agency and a member of the Bowen First Church of God.
Survivors include her son, Timothy Ray Rogers (Stacy); two daughters, Teresa Rogers King and Lori Beth Mays (Jason); grandchildren, Bethany Childers (Jerrod), Danielle Eades (Kyle), Brett King (Kristin), Taylor Townsend (Aaron), Hunter Clay Martin, Trenton Ray Rogers, Jayse Mays and Raegan Mays; great grandchildren, Jayden Childers, Presley Childers, and Beckett Townsend; two brothers, Bernard Wireman (Rosalee) and Randle Wireman; one sister, Darlene Watson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Shirley Ray Rogers; and a sister, Wanda Lee Everman.
Services will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2024, 1 p.m., at Wells Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton, by Rev. Wayne Everman, Bro. Terry Frericks, Bro. Stephen Donithan, and Bro. Mike Hicks. Visitation will be held Tuesday, 5-9 p.m., at the funeral home.

Donnie Isaacs, age 66, of Leighton Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the Marcum and Wallace Hospital following a long illness.
He was born January 30, 1957, in Madison County and was the son of the late Virgil and Mary Marcum Isaacs. He was a Logger for Isaacs Lumber and attended the Pine Hill Baptist Church. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
Mr. Isaacs is survived by his wife, Edith Osborne Isaacs; one stepson, Marty Stamper of Estill County; one sister, Betty Taylor of Estill County; and one grandchild, Kayle Stamper.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Isaacs; and five brothers, Ernest, Bobby, Charlie, Billy, and Ronnie Isaacs.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 8, 2024, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Lakes officiating. Burial will be at the Sparks Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Teresa Lynn VanWinkle, age 61, of Ann Street in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the University of Kentucky Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, following a long illness.
She was born April 6, 1962, in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Melvin and Jessie Berryman Rawlins. She was a Homemaker and had lived in Estill County all her life.
Mrs. VanWinkle is survived by her husband, Allen Wayne VanWinkle; one daughter, Chasity VanWinkle of Estill County; two sisters, Sharon Hardy of Estill County and Jennifer Miller of Rockcastle County; one brother, Melvin Rawlins of Estill County; and one grandchild, Kaitlynn VanWinkle.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, January 6, 2024, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to service time at 1 p.m.
Pallbearers were Greg Hardy, Melvin Rawlins, Casey Miller, Stevie Miller, Dylan Arthur, and Michael Pointer.

Tracy Wallace Arvin, 83, widower of Shirley JoAn Arvin, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at the Stanton, Kentucky, Nursing Center.
He was born April 8, 1940 to the late Melard and Ethel Holly Arvin.
Survivors include two sons, Tracy Wallace Arvin II (Barbara) and Timothy Lee Arvin; and numerous grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Lynn Rankin.
Graveside services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the Kennon Cemetery on Hardwicks Creek Road in Clay City.

Alberta May Hackworth, age 34, of Churchill, Tennessee, departed this life on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee.
Alberta was born on December 4, 1989, in Richmond, Kentucky to the late Owen G. Hackworth and Ruth Ashcraft Hackworth.
Survivors include, along with her mother, one brother, Danny Ashcraft; an aunt and uncle, Linda and Charlie Bill Muncy; one special nephew who was more like a brother, Danny Ashcraft Jr.; one special niece, Kendra Ashcraft; and one special cousin, Allen Wayne Hackworth; as well as numerous other relatives and friends to miss her and mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Alberta May Hackworth will be conducted on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals by Brother Sidney Sparks. Interment will follow in the Kirby Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service from 11 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Shirley Temple Conner, age 80, widow of John "Peanut" Conner, passed away Monday, January 1, 2024 at University of Kentucky Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
She was born August 14, 1943 in Clay City to the late Sam and Mattie Tipton Wells.
Survivors include one daughter, Edna Campbell; one son, Sammy Conner; a sister, Gathel Roberts; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and nine great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Mattie Tipton Wells; her husband, John "Peanut" Conner; two brothers, Larry Wells and Gordon Wells; and a grandson, Sammy Conner Jr.
Services will be held Friday, January 5, 2024, 2 p.m., at Wells Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton by Bro Rob Rice. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 4th, 5-8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Dennis Lee Ousley, age 79, of Old Boonesboro Road in Winchester, Kentucky, passed away Monday, January 1, 2024, at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset following a long illness.
He was born March 10, 1944, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, a son of the late Orville B. and Alvie Stephens Ousley. He retired from Bosch Rexroth where he was a Manufacturing Engineer and Toolmaker. He had lived in Estill County most his life.
Mr. Ousley was preceded in death by his wife, Verlon Edwards Ousley.
He is survived by his son, Greg Ousley (Stephanie) of Somerset; one brother, Dallas Ousley of Madison County; and three grandchildren, Katlin Ousley, Zachary Ousley, and Luke Thomas Ousley.
In addition to his parents and spouse, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Ray Ousley and James Thomas Ousley.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, January 5, 2024, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Tommy Edwards with burial following in the West Irvine Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rebecca Carroll, age 49, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the Marcum and Wallace Hospital.
She was born July 9, 1974 in Irvine to Douglas and Glenna Carroll.
Rebecca is survived by a daughter, Megan Hoover; a granddaughter, Layla Hebert; a brother, James Carroll; and three sisters, Sherry Dixon (Donnie), Connie Sparks (Ernie), and Elizabeth Dotson (Larry).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas Carroll and Glenna Riddell Hall; and a sister, Patricia Carroll.
A private family service was held Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel in Irvine with Bro. Jerry Rose officiating. Burial followed in the Gary Riddell Cemetery in Irvine.

Jamie Elizabeth Johnson, age 57, wife of Russell Johnson, passed on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the Irvine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Irvine, Kentucky.
Jamie was born July 13, 1966 in Norton, Virginia, a daughter to James and the late Vina Morrison Phillips. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Beattyville.
She is survived by her husband, Russell Johnson of Beattyville; her father, James Edward Phillips of Wise, Virginia; one son, Jimmy Joe Phillips (Rebecca) of Wise, Virginia; one stepson, Robert Johnson; one daughter, Rebecca Lane of Vanover, Virginia; three stepdaughters, Linda Johnson, Ashley Johnson, and Laura Johnson; and one brother, James Phillips of Western Kentucky; along with many other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Vina Morrison Phillips.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 1-2 p.m. at the Booneville Funeral Home followed by funeral services to be held at 2 p.m. with Pastor James Dunahoo officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Johnson-Newton Cemetery, located in Lee County, Kentucky.
Melvin Wiseman, 84

Melvin Wiseman, age 84, went to be with the lord on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Irvine Nursing and Rehab Center after a short illness.
Melvin was born on December 24, 1939, in Estill County and remained in Estill County all his life. He was the son of the late Ed and Polly Neal Wiseman.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Betina Sue Horn Wiseman; and two sisters, Crecie Babb and Elsie Henry.
Melvin was dedicated to all sports in the county and employed many young men in the county thru the years. He loved the Lord, his family and his friends with all he had. He was a member at the White Oak Church of God and operated a service station in Irvine for over 60 years.
Melvin is survived by two sons, Mark David Wiseman (Sherrie) of Irvine and Darryl Alan Wiseman (Richard) of Georgia; four sisters: Mary Stacy Goshen (Charlie) of Indiana, Sella Powell of Mason, Ohio; Dorothy Hall of Irvine, and Gladys White of Louisville; three grandchildren, one great grandson, and a special friend, Ruth Howell.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at White Oak Church of God with Brother Glyndon Woosley officiating.

Christopher Todd Claypoole, age 56, of South Laurel Road in London, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the Baptist Health in Corbin, following a long illness.
He was born August 10, 1967, in Maysville, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Charles Lee and Marla Hunley Claypoole. He was a retired Bishop of the Church of God and was a member of the Parkway Church of God. He had lived most of his life in Estill County.
Mr. Claypoole is survived by his wife, Rhonda Kay Sparks Claypoole; one daughter, Laura Beth Thompson (Justin) of London; one son, Christopher Ethan Claypoole (Sadie) of Corbin; four brothers, Emerson Lee Claypoole (Regina) of North Carolina, Richard Keith Claypoole (Roxann) of Estill County, Charles Clint Claypoole (Amy) of North Carolina, and Chuck Claypoole (Karen) of Canton, Ohio; six grandchildren, Clay Thompson, Rain Thompson, Luke Thompson, Elijah Thompson, Amara Claypoole, and Nicholas Claypoole.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 4, 2024, 11 a.m., at the Ravenna Church of God with Bro. Mitchell Tolle, Jr., Bro. Clint Claypoole, and Bro. Lee Claypoole officiating. Clint Staton, age 82, husband of Marilyn Ann Sizemore Staton, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Baptist Health-Lexington.
He was born July 9, 1941 in Irvine, Kentucky, and was the son of Horace and Reashy Estes Staton, both of whom preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Ann Sizemore Staton; three sons, William Holmes (Erin) of Ohio, Roy Staton and Clinton Staton, both of Kentucky; three brothers, Paul Staton (Becky) of Kentucky, Eugene Staton (Ruby) and Dan Staton (Cindy), both of Ohio; and four grandchildren, Joshua Staton; and Simon, Ethan and Anwen Holmes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Bob, Charles “Perk”, Claude, and Tracy Wallace Staton; and a sister, Helen Staton.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at Lexington Road Church of God, 2336 Lexington Road, Richmond, on Saturday, January 6, 2024. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bill Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery in Irvine, Kentucky.

Paul Edward Flinchum, age 67, of Mountain Crest Drive in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023, at his home following a long illness.
He was born June 27, 1956, in Lee County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Chester William and Frieda Ruth Cole Flinchum. He was a former cook with the Lee County High School and a member of the Sandfield Pentecostal Church of God. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
Mr. Flinchum is survived by his daughter, Rachel Dawn Flinchum Godby (Thomas) of Estill County; his son, Donald Paul Flinchum (Nikki) of Powell County; one sister, Carolyn Sue Goosey of Estill County; eight grandchildren, Gracie Flinchum, Coraline Flinchum, Ethan Byrd, Emma Flinchum, Caiden Godby, Owen Godby, Olivia Godby, and Logan Godby; a special niece, Amy Rettburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Joyce Canter.

Brandon Charles Walters, age 41, of Levi Jackson Mill Road in London, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the Marcum and Wallace Hospital in Irvine, Kentucky.
He was born January 16, 1982, in Dayton, Ohio and was the son of Gerry Walters and Bonita Couch Garrett. He was a Brick Mason and he attended the Corbin Parkway Ministries Church. He had lived in Estill County for most of his life.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Alisha Dale Walters; his step-father, Ronnie Garrett; two daughters, Brooklyn Rae Walters and Brandy Lynn Walters, both of Estill County; two stepdaughters, Makenzie Jade Conrad and Kylee Marie Miller, both of Estill County; one stepson, Dawson Michael Miller of Estill County; one brother, Dustin Walters of Madison County; two step-sisters, Molly Pingleton and Jessie Hunt, both of Madison County; and three step-grandchildren, Tristan Allen Scott Conrad, Addilyn Nicole Hurt, and Alaia Jade Conrad.
A memorial service was conducted Monday, January 1, 2024, 1:00 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation was held on Monday from 12 Noon to 1 p.m.
Hazel Isaacs Callahan, 92

Hazel Isaacs Callahan, age 92, of Greenfield, Indiana, passed away Monday, December 25, 2023, at Hancock Regional Hospital.
She was born in Jackson County, Kentucky, on February 6, 1931, to Jerry T. and Melva Isaacs. She grew up in the Appalachian Mountains where she met the love of her life, George Callahan. They were married in 1949 and enjoyed 63 years together before his passing in 2012. She was reunited with George early Christmas morning. Hazel traveled with her husband on the evangelistic field and was a pastor’s wife. She was a devout Christian and her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was unshakable.
They were the parents of two daughters, Marcella Callahan and Darlene Callahan (Bob Ravencraft). In addition to her daughters, Hazel is survived by her brother, Paul Isaacs; sisters, Fern Seale, Alva “Tippi” Toler and Marsha Zornes; as well as many nieces, nephews and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Frank, Vernon, Dewey, Delbert and Herschel; and sisters, Velma Day and Yvonne Richmond.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, Indiana. Visitation was held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The funeral service began at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Steve Branstutter from Bethel Tabernacle Church of God in Kokomo, Indiana officiated. Burial followed at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.

Ann Winn Moreland, age 67, of Wisemantown Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at the Baptist Health in Richmond.
She was born May 21, 1956, in Lexington, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Bill and Rhoda Ann Winn Higginbotham. She was an employee of Citizens Guaranty Bank and a member of the Wisemantown Methodist Church. She had lived in Estill County all her life.
Mrs. Moreland was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Lynn Moreland; and is survived by her daughter, Amanda Lynn Toler of Irvine; her son, John David Moreland of Irvine; one brother, Gene Higginbotham (Jamie) of Richmond; and three grandchildren, Berkley Wynne Moreland, Cade Toler, and Ava Toler.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, December 31, 2023, 2 p.m., at the Wisemantown Methodist Church with Bro. Noel White and Bro. Greg McClellan officiating. Burial was at the Gumm Cemetery. Visitation was held on Saturday from 6-9 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home and after 1 p.m., Sunday, at the Church.
Pallbearers were Jeffrey Neal, Courtney Shelton, Trey Toler, Jeremy Moreland, Austin Higginbotham, and Landon Higginbotham.
Walter Thomas King, 84

Walter Thomas King, age 84, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023.
He was born July 15, 1939 on Cane Creek, Powell County, Kentucky, to the late English and Mattie Willoughby King. Tom was a United States Army Veteran, worked for Bundy Tubing, and was an avid gardener and farmer, raising cows and pigs. He often could be found at the Clay City Flea Market with his vegetables.
Survivors include three brothers, James Bedford King, Bowen; John Kerry King, Stanton; and Chester Lee King (Janet K.), Mt. Sterling; seven sisters, Vina Nanette Morton, Janet Lavern Meadows, both of Clay City; Alta Mae Roach (Arnold), West Carrollton, Ohio; Olga Anna Sullivan (Roger), Falmouth; Margaret Sue Collett (Eugene), Hamilton, Ohio; Marsha Lynn McCoy (Eddie) and Mable Frances McIntosh, both of Stanton; a brother-in-law, Arnold B. Morton, Clay City; two sisters-in-law, Sue King, Jeffersonville, and Jeannie King, Mt. Sterling; an aunt, Golda Derickson; his special caregiver and friend, Joy Howell; special friends, George Welicki and Miguel Ventura; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Bonnie Jean Morton; two brothers, Elbert Donald King and Equllis King; a brother-in-law, Paul R. Morton; and two sisters-in-law, Lois E. King and Estelle A. King.
Services were held Sunday, December 31, 2023, 2 p.m., at Wells Funeral Home in Stanton. Visitation wass held Saturday, December 30th after 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial was in the King-Napier Cemetery with Johnathan Wayne McIntosh, Caroline Ranelee Hope King, Phillip Gordon McIntosh, Shawn Wade King, Kevin David Morton, Christopher David King, Roger Nelson Meadows, Brandon Scott King, Delmus Allen Jr., George Welicki, Johnny Fletcher, and Charlie Fletcher serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers serving were his many nieces and nephews.
Edward Delmont Gross, 87

Edward Delmont Gross, age 87, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, December 25, 2023, at his home.
Delmont was born on March 3, 1936, in Irvine, Kentucky to the late Elmo and Ruby Colwell Gross.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of over 48 years, Ethel Marie Saylor Gross; two brothers, Dewey Wayne Gross and James Linville Gross; two special cousins, Bunt Gross and Bud Rogers; and a special friend, Daley Thompson.
Mr. Gross was a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the Scottish Rite for over 50 years as well as a Shriner. He also served in the United States Army.
Survivors include his son, Edward Wayne Gross (Kay); two grandchildren, Justin Gross (Melissa) and Jackie Vincent (Luke); four great grandchildren, Olivia and Caleb Gross; and Mason and Baby Vincent; his significant other, Delores Dee McCullah, who have resided together for over 16 years, living on Cobb Hill where they knew each other growing up; and a special friend and caretaker, Carla Saylor; as well as numerous other relatives and friends to miss him and mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Edward Delmont Gross were conducted on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 1 p.m. in the Lewis Home for Funerals chapel with Brother Mark Pearson officiating. Interment followed in the Cobb Hill Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023, at the funeral home.
Masonic services were conducted Friday evening, December 29, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals by Irvine Lodge #137, O.D. Henderson Lodge #437, and Stafford Lodge #562. He was a member of Proctor Lodge #213 in Beattyville, Kentucky. Military honors were given at the cemetery by the American Legion Post #79 Honor Guard.
Pallbearers were Edward and Justin Gross, Luke Vincent, David McCullah, Carla Saylor and Carolyn Saylor.
Betty Jane Begley Hollon, 91

Betty Jane Begley Hollon, widow of Monte Fay Hollon and the daughter of the late Wilgus and Bertie Mae Tirey Begley was born in Lee County, Kentucky on July 27, 1932 and peacefully departed this life surrounded by her family at her home in Beattyville, Kentucky on December 25, 2023 at the age of 91 years, 4 months, and 29 days. She was a homemaker, avid golfer and member of the Beattyville Country Club, as well as a member of the McGuire Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Betty leaves behind her five children, Thomas K. Hollon (Elizabeth), Jonathan D. Hollon, Cindy L. Neiderman (Mike), Elizabeth A. Noe (Donnie), and Cheryl Ruth Cox (Danny); nine grandchildren, Josh Neiderman, Summer Rosencrans, Katherine Long, Hayley Harris, Timothy Noe, Jenna Hayes, Clint Cox, Jon “Budge” Cox, and Abigail Hollon; eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Herbert Begley of Russell Springs, Kentucky; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by her siblings, Leonna Begley, Ruth Durbin, Lucinda Combs, John Begley, Elizabeth Horn, Viola Tharp, and her twin, Bill Begley; and one grandson, William Jett Rosencrans.
Visitation was held Saturday, December 30, 2023, 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment was at Proctor Cemetery, Proctor Road in Beattyville.

Lloyd Glenwood "Slick" Abney, age 86, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023 surrounded by his family.
He was born August 18, 1937 in Estill County to the late Hiram Rodney and Nancy Puckett Abney.
Survivors include three brothers, Shelby Abney, Marvin Abney, and Jimmy Abney; four sisters, Ivory Wells, Carol Snowden, Pamela Walker, and Darlene Slemp; and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodney and Nancy Abney; two brothers, Ledford Abney and Joe Abney; and two sisters, Marie Mays and Patsy Smith.
Services were held Saturday, December 30, 2023, 2 p.m. at the Ware Cemetery by Bro. Paul Day and Bro. Brad Epperson.
Wells Funeral Home of Stanton was in charge of arrangements.

Ernest Wayne Griffin, age 74, of Siesta Drive in Richmond, Kentucky passed away Friday, December 22, 2023, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, following a short illness.
He was born December 6, 1949, in Estill County and was the son of the late Willie and Vina Puckett Griffin. He was a retired truck driver for Riley Oil and a former CSX employee. He formerly served in the National Guard, and he was a member of the Free Methodist Church. He had lived in Estill County for most of his life.
Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife, Linda Mansfield Griffin; one son, Willie Griffin (Crystal) of Madison County; one stepdaughter, Anita Lynn Stamper of Madison County; one stepson, Mickey Hatton of Madison County; one sister, Glenda Wiseman of Estill County; one grandchild, Lance Mattew Griffin; and seven step-grandchildren, Courtney Stamper, Chandler Stamper, Paige Hatton, Layne Hatton, Summer Blevins, Zachary Blevins, and Tamara Collins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters, Roxy Roundtree, Dorothy Williams, Marcella Cooper, Mae “Red” Moss, Eidith Dozier, and Bobby Johnson; and two brothers, Amos “Bud” Williams and Melvin Williams.
A memorial service was conducted Tuesday, December 26, 2023, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Chad Lainhart officiating. Visitation was held on Tuesday from 12 Noon to 1 p.m.

Patsy Carole Dearing Woosley, 84, passed away, Thursday, December 21, 2023.
She was born January 5, 1939, in Clark County, the daughter of Virgil Patterson Dearing and Elsie Clay Baber
Dearing.
Patsy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a Christian and attended Dry Ridge Baptist Church, Burlington Baptist Church, and Central
Baptist Church in Winchester. Patsy worked for the Gates Rubber Company, Florence, Kentucky, for over 20 years. She loved music, reading, family visits, camping, and crafts.
Mrs. Woosley is survived by her sons, Larry Woosley, Mike Woosley, and Brian Woosley; siblings, Gerry
Richardson, David Dearing, Garland Dearing, Tommy Dearing, Glenn Dearing, Shane Dearing, and Doug Dearing; grandchildren, Amber Woosley Botts, Jade Woosley Santa, Desiree Woosley Payne, Dean Woosley, Mycah Woosley and Austin JT Woosley; and great grandchildren, Jackson Botts, Bodhi Botts, Aurelia Payne, and Avacyn Payne; as well as numerous extended family members.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Marion Lee Woosley; parents, Virgil Patterson Dearing and Elsie Clay Baber Dearing; two brothers, Larry Joe Dearing and Johnny Dearing; and a sister, Alison Dearing.
Services will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Scobee Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will follow at the Winchester Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Todd Richardson, Doug Dearing, Jeff Dearing, Dennis Dearing, Tommy Dearing, Glenn Dearing, Shane Dearing and David Woosley.

Michelle Lee Hoover, age 53, of Leighton Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at her home following a long illness.
She was born July 15, 1970, in Fayette County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Charles Robinson and Drucilla Walling Gross. She was a 911 Dispatcher for the Estill County Fiscal Court and she had lived in Estill County all her life.
Mrs. Hoover is survived by her husband, James Preston Hoover; two daughters, Shayna Turpin (Chris) and Brittany Hoover, both of Estill County; two sons, Tyler Wayne Turpin (Kayla) and James Brendan Hoover, both of Estill County; one sister, Sherry Robinson (Toot) of Estill County; eight grandchildren, Jagan Hinds, Taylor Turpin, Jaxson Turpin, Emma Turpin, Braxton Griffith, Braden Griffith, Niva Griffith, and Noah Griffith; and two nieces, Laura Reed and Cailyn Gross.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ronnie C. Gross; and her nephew, Dustin Young.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, December 23, 2023, 11 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at the Gross Point Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 22nd from 6-9 p.m.
Pallbearers were Chris Richardson, Tyler Turpin, and Christian Spencer.
Honorary pallbearers were Jagan Hinds and James Hoover.
