Juniper Ann Rankin, infant daughter of Jackie Rankin Jr. and Ericka Dunaway passed away Friday, February 9, 2024 at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital. She was born January 18, 2024 in Winchester, Kentucky.
Survivors include, mother, Ericka Dunaway; father, Jackie Rankin Jr; a brother, Kaidyn Dunn; grandparents, Otis Dunaway (Tara), Maggie Fouch, and Chyenna Lawson (Jimmy).
Visitation was held Tuesday, 5-7 p.m., at Wells Funeral Home, Stanton.

Jonathan Floyd Rogers, 46, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024 in Sharpsburg, Kentucky.
He was born April 21, 1977 in Winchester, Kentucky to the late Raymond Rogers Jr. and Regina Karen Marcum Rogers.
Survivors include, children, Erika Leshay Rogers, Madison Lou Rogers, Jonathan Floyd Rogers Jr., and Palmer Gray Beltran; a brother, Timothy Clay Ashley; grandchildren, Emma Grace Rogers and Logan Lee Dunn; and nieces, Tiffany (Grant) Faulkner and Timika Ashley.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Floyd and Lou Ginter, and Virginia Ashley.
Services Friday, February 16, 2024, 11 a.m., at Wells Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton. Visitation Thursday 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Betty Holbrook, age 81, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024 at Clark Regional Medical Center, Winchester, Kentucky.
She was born April 4, 1942 to the late Chalmer and Delphia Brown Burton.
Survivors include, aniece, Patricia Evans; and two nephews, Bill Gardener and Ricky Gardener.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Naomi Gardener.
Services Friday, February 16, 2024, 2 p.m., Wells Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton, by Bro. Larry Shoemaker and Bro. Dan Newell. Visitation Friday after 12 Noon at the funeral home. Burial in Stokley Cemetery, Clay City.
Retired Sergeant Major Eldon "Lowell" Briscoe, 88

Retired Sergeant Major Eldon "Lowell" Briscoe, age 88, went to his heavenly home, Monday, February 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born April 5, 1935 in Rogers Chapel, Kentucky to the late Dewey and Abbie Rogers Briscoe. During his 21 years in the United States Army, he proudly served in the Vietnam War and attained rank of Sergeant Major before his retirement in November 1977. After his retirement, he had many other accomplishments including opening Lowell's Tape and Music Store, bus driver at the Powell County Schools for eleven years, salesman at L & R Dodge, and Southwind Golf Course. Lowell was an avid bluegrass music man, going to festivals, playing the bass in many bands, and also a founding member of Kentucky Friends of Bluegrass. He enjoyed restoring antique cars, keeping a tidy yard and home, and most importantly, driving a spotless car. He attended Stanton First Church of God for over 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of over 47 years, Carlena Briscoe, whom he married November 12, 1976 in Anchorage, Alaska. Also leaving behind, a brother, Shirley Briscoe; a daughter, Holly Brewer (Al); a step-daughter, Jackie Bostwick (Patrick); his favorites, his grandchildren, Evan, Caeden Parker, Chase, and Carlee Molihan; and a host of nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dennison Briscoe, Elbridge Briscoe, and Donald Briscoe; and a sister, Betty Nagel.
Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, February 15, 1 p.m., at Wells Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Station. Visitation will be held Wednesday, 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Stanton Cemetery with military honors.

Nancy Lee Fox McMaine, 77

In Loving Memory of Nancy McMaine (1946-2024)
Nancy Lee Fox McMaine, born March 10, 1946, affectionately known as "Mammi" by her family and community, passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on February 10, 2024. She was a beloved figure, cherished by friends and family alike.
Nancy, a proud veteran who served in the Army Reserve, was not only a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother but also a successful small business owner. Her passion for creativity led her to establish "Nancy’s House of Ceramics," a testament to her artistic spirit and entrepreneurial drive.
As a pillar of the community, Nancy actively participated in the Estill County Homemakers and found solace in her faith as a member of the Ravenna Nazarene Church. Her generous spirit and love for storytelling brought laughter to countless gatherings, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald McMaine; her parents, Candy Fox and Frances Horn Fox; and her siblings, Wayne Fox, Douglas Fox, Alene Schmieg, Sue Sherrill, Michael Fox, Calvin Fox and Faye Bingham.
Nancy is survived by her brother, Stanley Fox of Irvine; her four children, Candie McMaine of Irvine, Rhonda Simpson of Oviedo, Florida, Curt McMaine (Rhonda) and Suzi Freeman (Jeff Hall), both of Irvine; her ten grandchildren, Ashley Isaacs (Donnie), Jacqueline Ray (Desmond), Alesia Webb, Andrew Hatton, Sarah Cockrell (Jonathan), Jacob Simpson, Mallory McMaine, Ryan McMaine, Sondra Watson (Justin), and April Tegtmeier (Kevin); ten great-grandchildren and a host of friends, nieces and nephews.
Her legacy of love, resilience, and community involvement will continue to inspire all who were touched by her warmth. May she find eternal peace, and may her memory be a source of comfort and strength for her grieving loved ones.
She will be laid to rest at Richardson cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Hadley Lara Carol Conrad, infant, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024 at the Baptist Health Hospital in Richmond, Kentucky.
She was born February 9, 2024 at the Baptist Health Hospital in Richmond to Jerame and Rebekah Conrad.
Hadley is survived by her parents.
Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Sunday February 11, 2024 at the Winburn Cemetery in Irvine.

Wiley J. Cole, 77, husband of Laura McIntosh Cole, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024 at his home.
He was born December 5, 1946 in Jackson County, Kentucky to the late Raymond and Linda Rose Cole. He was a retired police office serving in Martin County, Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Laura Cole; a son, Michael Cole (Sharon); two daughters, Sheila Devercelly and Stephanie Stevenson (Marc); a brother, Tommy Cole (Brenda); a sister, Wanda Pennington (Ralph); three grandchildren, Rayna Witt, Jessica Stevenson, and Matthew Stevenson; and great grandchildren, Hudson Bo Witt, Tazen Miles, Miles Stevenson, Jonathan Ralstin, and Chester Ralstin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2024, 1 p.m., at Wells Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Visitation will be held Monday 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Stonegate Cemetery with Gary Hall, Marc Stevenson, Clifton McKinney, TJ Cole, Daniel Cole, and Robbie Abner serving as pallbearers.

Melvin Mansfield, 88

Melvin Mansfield, age 88, a resident of Madison Health Care and Rehab Center in Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the Center, following a long illness.
He was born February 27, 1935, and was the son of the late Francis Millard Mansfield and Myrtle Modell Short Mansfield. He was a General Laborer and a member of the Corinth Christian Church. He had lived in Estill County for most of his life.
Mr. Mansfield is survived by his special niece and caregiver, Vickie Wood.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Mildred Wood, Alsie Merritt, Mae Richardson, and Pearl Freeman; and six brothers, Ronald, Clay, Gene, Junior, Clyde, Earl, and Roy Mansfield.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, February 13, 2024, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Johnny Richardson Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Phyllis McCall, 92

Phyllis McCall, age 92, previously of Stanton, Kentucky, passed away at Landmark of Danville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Danville, Kentucky, on Thursday, February 8, 2024.
Phyllis was born in Clay City, Kentucky, on September 30, 1931, to the late Buell Abney and the late Clemmie Rogers. She attended Morris Creek First Church of God and was well known for her upholstery skills. Phyllis loved her family dearly; she loved taking walks with her late husband and playing with her grandchildren. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, playing the piano, quilting, gardening, fishing, square dancing and U.K. basketball.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, James Clayton McCall, Jr.; her brother, James Abney; and two sisters, Patsy Kennon and Dixie Sue Snapp.
She is survived by four sons, Lonnie McCall (Teresa) of Stanton, John McCall of Clay City, David McCall and Brian McCall, both of Lexington: three daughters, Darlene Stamper (Bill) of Frenchburg, LaDonna Scott (Vincent), and Myra Dudee, both of Lexington; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m., on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Morris Creek First Church of God, 1670 Morris Creek Road, Stanton. Funeral services, officiated by Brother Raymond Tipton, will be held immediately following visitation at the church at 3 p.m. on Monday.
Burial will be held at Resthaven Cemetery in Stanton, with Vincent Scott, Sam Scott, Anand Dudee, Randy Bowen, Jon Curtis, and Mike Lockard serving as active pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers are Bill Stamper, Bob Mays, Jerald Faulkner and Rob Goyette.

Fonda Louise Stone Harvey, 73

Fonda Louise Stone Harvey, age 73, of Broadway in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at the Saint Joseph East Hospital in Lexington, following a long illness.
She was born March 19, 1950, in Ohio and was the daughter of the late Jessie Davis Stone and Emily Centers Stone. She was a Homemaker and attended the Ravenna First Church of God. She had lived in Estill County for most of her life.
Mrs. Harvey is survived by two daughters, Donna Harvey Richardson and Etta Renee Estes, both of Estill County; two sons, David Ray Harvey (Shelly) and Robert Jr. Harvey, both of Estill County; one sister, Eva Tipton of Estill County; three brothers, James Stone (Connie), David Stone (Gail), both of Estill County; and Anthony Centers of Ohio; six grandchildren, Josh, Dustin, Andrew, Brooke, Dalton, and Dakota; and seven great grandchildren, Bentley, Bailey, Harper, Hudson, Jordan, Jazmine, and Xavier.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Debbie Fultz and Nancy Caudill.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, February 10, 2024, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Terry Barnes officiating. Burial was at the Garrett Cemetery. Visitation was held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Pallbearers were Dustin Watson, Andrew Harvey, Josh Richardson, Dalton Estes, Jimmy Stone, and David Caudill.
Estine Walling Miller, 86

Estine Walling Miller, age 86, of Mansion View Court in Lexington, Kentucky, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024, at the Bourbon County Hospital in Paris, County, following a long illness.
She was born November 21, 1937, in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Grant and Pearlie Brineger Walling. She was a retired manager for Sears and a member of the White Oak Church of God. She was also a member of the Kiwanis and the Marcum and Wallace Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She had lived in Estill County for the last 25 years.
Estine is survived by one daughter, Donna Miller Williams (Ceil) of Lexington; one son, Timothy Miller (Sheila) of Flatwoods; several brothers and sisters; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Brian Keith Miller.
A memorial service will be conducted Monday, February 12, 2024, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Hurd officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Billie L. Brandenburg, 84

Billie L. Brandenburg, age 84, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 4, 2024.
He was born in Hazard, Perry County, Kentucky, on January 24, 1940, and moved as a young child, age 2, to Irvine, Kentucky, and at age 4, to Ravenna, Kentucky.
Mr. Brandenburg was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Amy Napier Brandenburg; his father, Ray Johnson of Perry County; and his adoptive father, Hargis Brandenburg. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Jean Johnson; his brothers, Blaine Brandenburg, Buford Brandenburg, and Donald Brandenburg.
Mr. Brandenburg was a member of Williams Memorial Baptist Church in Ravenna, Kentucky, continuously since the age of 9. He attended Ravenna Elementary School through eighth grade where as a young boy, he was active in the Boy Scouts, and delivered the Lexington Leader to many residents of Ravenna and Irvine. He was a 1958 graduate of Irvine High School, having attended Bluegrass Boys State in March of the year, He was also a graduate of the University of Kentucky Fire School where he was awarded a Fire Engineering Teaching Certificate. He attended Central Technical Institute in Kansas City, Missouri, for Airline Personnel Training. He attended Lexington Community College, having been awarded the Emergency Medical Technician Certificate, the Blackstone School of Law, and he attended Eastern Kentucky University studying Criminal Law and Police Administration.
Mr. Brandenburg was proud to serve his country as a combat veteran during the Vietnam War serving in the United States military from 1963 – 1966. He attended the United States Army Infantry School at Fort Benning, Georgia, studying Military Law. His service was with the 11th Air Assault Test Division to develop the Air Mobility Concept. This division was changed to the 1st Cavalry Air Mobile Division, to implement the Air Mobility Concept in Vietnam, where he was an Infantryman, Personnel Specialist, and Intelligence Specialist.
Mr. Brandenburg was employed in various positions throughout his life which reflected his interest, strengths, and unique abilities. As a young man he was employed in Kansas City, Missouri, first as an Advertising and Printing Clerk with Jackbilt Corporation then a Supply Clerk with Clipper Manufacturing, at Katz Drug Company as a Management Trainee, and finally at Pinkerton Detective Agency. He also had quite a history with the Fire Department serving as a Ravenna Volunteer Fireman, then Assistant Chief for the City of Ravenna, followed by Fire Chief. He designed a new fire truck for Ravenna in 1969 and served as Deputy State Fire Marshall from 1967 – 1969.
He will be remembered by many families in Estill County during their times of bereavement in his position as Apprentice Funeral Director/Embalmer with Cox Funeral Home and then with Lewis Funeral Home.
Later, he was President of Estill Corporation which dealt with oil and gas leasing and drilling, owner of Star Security, which provided security and investigative services to the coal industry, was a private contractor as a Security and Investigative Consultant, and most recently as a Gold Buyer with Cash-in-a-Dash Company.
He was also active in the political arena and had many friends and contacts throughout Kentucky and other states as a result. His first venture into politics involved serving as Acting City Judge in Ravenna from 1967 – 1970. Next, he served in public office from 1970 – 1974, when the people of Estill County voted him the honor of serving as Estill County Judge. He was then appointed Special Judge from 1974 – 1975, to hear select cases. These positions occupied a very special part of his life and his service to others.
Mr. Brandenburg was a devoted public servant, working for programs and services that would benefit all Estill Countians. Some of the programs that he was responsible for and functioned within active leadership positions included serving as Chairman of the Board for the Bluegrass Area Development Council, Chairman of the Board for the Kentucky River Foothills Development Council, he brought the GED Adult Education Program into the county before it was absorbed into the school system, he served as the first Director of the Estill County Emergency Medical Service Program and was called upon to help develop and organize Emergency Medical Services in other counties as well, he instigated the program to set up building the Chamberlain Branch dam to prevent flooding at the Irvine-Ravenna line, he along with Dr. Tim Lee Carter, instigated the purchase and renovation of the Fitchburg Furnace, he was responsible for the expansion of the Estill County Water District including installation of fire hydrants throughout the district, then later on established the Estill County Fire Department in 1973. He designed the first two fire trucks for Estill County. He served as Chairman of the Public Employment Program for the National Association of Counties, before Congress on the Comprehensive Employment Training Program, and the Federal Revenue Sharing Program. It was noted in 1973 by the National Association of Counties that Judge Brandenburg was the only elected public official in the United States to simultaneously head an economic developments agency and an anti- poverty agency. He established a central dispatch communications program for Estill County which provided radios for the Sheriff’s Department, the Police Departments of Irvine and Ravenna, as well as the Fire Department and Ambulance Service. He, along with Lynn Frazier, met with the Kentucky Congressional Delegation as well as members from other states and presented information to implement a nutrition program which later became known as the Meals on Wheels Program. He worked with the Library Board to establish the Estill County Library on Main Street and was responsible for initiating the bonding in order to build the nursing home, currently Irvine Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Brandenburg was a Charter Member as well as a Lifetime Member of the International and National Association of Probate Judges, a Lifetime Member of the 11th Airborne Division and 1st Calvary Division Association, the VFW, the DAV, the American Legion, and a Kentucky Colonel.
He leaves to cherish his history and memories, sisters-in-law, Dianna Brandenburg Chambers, Bath County; and Jean Brandenburg, Lexington; nephews, Martin Brandenburg (Kim), Hillsboro, and Doug Brandenburg, Colorado; nieces, Sherry Brandenburg Sullivan, Lexington, and Terry Freeman (Otis), Irvine; also his cherished friend, Marsha Stone, along with special cousin Bill Strong (Judy), Lexington; special friend, Phyllis Wagers; several great nieces and nephews; and cousins, Wanda Morgan, Hazard, and Billy Joe Napier, Hyden.
Mr. Brandenburg was a man of principle and integrity who cared deeply about his family, his community, and his friends, and our lives will be forever blessed and enriched by his being a part of them. He will be remembered for his love, his leadership, and his loyalty.
Funeral services were held on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Lewis Home for Funerals with Brother Jim Ashcraft officiating. The family receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time. Interment followed at West Irvine Cemetery with full military honors.
Honoring him as pallbearers were Martin Brandenburg, Stan White, Artie White, Ken White, Tommy Lane, and Jackie Rogers. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Bill Strong, James Gross; and members of the Estill County Fire Department and Estill County Ambulance Service.
Memorials are suggested to Williams Memorial Baptist Church, Kentucky Educational Television, or the Estill County Animal Shelter.

Geneva Ruth Ledford, age 94, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024 at Landmark of Danville Nursing Center in Danville, Kentucky.
She was born March 13, 1929 in Powell County to the late Everett and Mertle Morton Centers. Geneva was a member of the Middlefork Church of God. Survivors include, her son, Denzel Ledford (Barbara); grandchildren, Jason Ledford, Randy Ledford, Rylan Ledford, and Tiffany Rogers; great grandchildren, Angela Ledford, Matthew Ledford, Wyatt Rogers, Owen Rogers, Kaylee Rogers, Adam Ledford, Raegen Ledford, Noah Ledford, and Harley Ledford; and a sister, Mildred May.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael Ledford; a brother, Marvin Centers; and a sister, Mae Vaughn.
Services were held Thursday, February 8, 2024, 10:30 a.m., at Wells Funeral Home by Rev. Warren Rogers. Visitation was held Wednesday, February 7th, 6-9 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial was in Resthaven Cemetery with pallbearers Jason Ledford, Randy Ledford, Rylan Ledford, Wyatt Rogers, Rogers Center, and Adam Ledford.
Jearl Dean “Redman” Rogers, 82

Jearl Dean “Redman” Rogers, age 82, husband of Kathlene McKinney Rogers, passed away surrounded by those he loved on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at his home in Stanton, Kentucky.
He was born in Patsy, Kentucky, on April 15, 1941, to the late Alpheus Rogers and the late Eldeana Hall Martin. Jearl was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard who attended the Church of God. He was a member of the Stafford Masonic Lodge #562 and an honorary member of the Stanton Masonic Lodge #352. Jearl loved his children and grandchildren and was known for being friendly and welcoming to everyone he met. He was a retired truck driver for Continental Metal Specialty, and he also enjoyed operating a flea market booth. Jearl's hobbies included cooking, vegetable gardening, racing dirt track cars, and being around racing in general. When he was younger, he also enjoyed hunting.
In addition to his parents, Jearl was preceded in death by his sister, Sylvia Mullins; two daughters, Pam Helton and Kathy Beach; three grandchildren, Brian Keith Rogers, Aaron Rogers, and Austin Dean Helton; and his son-in-law, Micheal Helton.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons. Michael Rogers (Carrie) of Jeffersonville, Gregory Rogers of Stanton, Chris Rogers (Alicia) of Stanton, and Jason Rogers (Tammy) of Clay City; two daughters, Beverly Hall (Shane) of Irvine and Angie Lane (Jeff) of Stanton; one son-in-law, Dwayne Beach of Stanton; 25 grandchildren: Shannon Muncie, Shawna Mink, Jonathan Hall, Jessica Willis, Josh Spencer, Justin Spencer, Frank Spencer, Michael Coy Helton, Greg Moats, Brad Moats, Jonathan Rogers, Andrew Rogers, Brittany Rogers, Zachery Rogers, Erica Rednour, Emma Rogers, Stephanie Lane, Ashley Lane, Kaylee Perry, Kyle Lane, Evan Rogers, Jacob Rogers, Carly Rogers, Layne Rogers, and Taylor Rogers; numerous great grandchildren; one brother, Lonnie Rogers of Jeffersonville; and three sisters, Judy Lovely of Jeffersonville, Geneva Townsend of Beattyville, and Imogene Shepherd (Shep) of Augusta.
Visitation was held from 5-9 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Masonic Funeral Rites were conducted Friday evening as well at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services officiated by Jameson Mink were held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 10th.
Burial was at Stonegate Cemetery with Jonathan Hall, Justin Spencer, Michael Coy Helton, Kyle Lane, Evan Rogers, Carly Rogers, and Andrew Rogers serving as active pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren, great grandchildren, Dwayne Beach, Elisha Bishop, Masonic Brothers, and members of Hospice East.

Jamie Lee Watkins, age 43, departed his earthly home for his eternity with Jesus, Sunday morning, January 28, 2024. He was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1980.
As a beloved son, brother, dad, cousin, uncle and many other titles, he impacted the hearts of many daily. He was known as the famous “Buckstache Barber" of Clay City, Kentucky, where he touched the lives of many as they made their way into his chair. When he wasn’t cutting hair, you would likely find him with his KNF Pool Family or sitting on the pay lake bank trying his luck at the biggest hog. Most importantly, Jamie loved and served the Lord faithfully and boldly expressed Jesus’ love for us all. He was a member of Jeffersonville Assembly of God, where he often served, proudly, alongside his mother in the food ministry. He was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School and recently earned his Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Studies from John Hobson Bible Training Center.
He is survived by his loving parents, James and Beulah Watkins of Winchester, Kentucky, along with children, Stephen Moore, Haley Dunn, and Jenna Moore; and eight grandchildren. He also had two sisters, Kim Reed and Jennifer Goodpaster, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Mr. Watkins was preceded in death by his grandparents and many aunts and uncles.
His family and friends gathered to honor his memory at the Leon Pace Memorial Chapel, next to Scobee Funeral Home, 219 W. Lexington Avenue, Winchester, KY. Visitation began at 5 p.m. for immediate family, and continued from 6-8 p.m. for the public. The funeral service was held the following day, Thursday February 1st at Jeffersonville Assembly of God, beginning at 11 a.m. Burial followed at the Lovely Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brandon Dunn, Stephen Moore, Brian Smith, Jason Brinegar, John Brinegar, Ronald Brinegar (little), Travis Reed, and Caleb Reed.
Honorary Pallbearers were Anthony Brinegar, Dustin Brinegar, William Brinegar, Jon Dyer, and Ronald Brinegar.
Phillip Holliman, 67

Phillip Holliman of McKee, Kentucky, was born December 29, 1956, in Clark County, Kentucky, and departed this life Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Kentucky, at the age of 67. He was the son of the late Ernest & Vesteen Adams Holliman.
Phillip is survived by his wife, Lola Cox Holliman of McKee and by three children, Steve Holliman (Geneva) of Gray Hawk, Glenn Holliman of Akron, Ohio; and Kristy Martin (Robert) of Connersville, Indiana. Other survivors include his siblings, Danny Holliman and Mike Holliman, both of Irvine; Bill Holliman of Harlan, Johnny Holliman of Winchester and Dwayne Holliman of Tennessee and Verna Lee Green of Georgia. He was blessed with eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Cox Jr.
Phillip was a member of the McKee Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Lakes Funeral Home in McKee with Bro. Jeff Marcum and Bro. David Marcum officiating. Burial was in the Cox & Holliman Cemetery.

Larry James Hatton, 72, husband of Sharon Ann Hatton, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024 at Stanton Nursing Center.
He was born September 12, 1951 in Winchester, Kentucky, to the late James Floyd and Estill Lee Briscoe Hatton. He retired as a mechanic from Sylvania.
In addition to his wife Sharon, survivors include, sons, Bryan Hatton (Rachel) and Frank Alan Hatton; sisters, Opal Geraldine Faulkner (J.B.) and Carolyn Collins (Keith); an aunt, Margaret Congleton; four grandchildren, Lexie Hatton, Addison Hatton, Allison Poe, and Sabrina Banks; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Matthew Hatton; and a sister, Judy Mullins.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 5, 2024, at Wells Funeral Home in Stanton, officiated by Bro. Lowell Rice & Bro. Glennis Sizemore. Visitation was held Sunday, February 4th beginning at 5 p.m. for family and from 6-9 p.m. for friends.
Burial followed the funeral at the Hatton Creek Cemetery with Bobby Dale Pelfrey, Michael Bilbrey, Ryan Ingram, Wayne Munday, Logan Munday and Darrell Boone serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers included Danny Rogers, Gary Abner, Seldon Pelfrey, and Ted Bilbrey.
Ella Marie Johnson, 81

Ella Marie Johnson, age 81, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024, at the Fountain Circle Health Care Center in Winchester, Kentucky after a long illness.
She was born on July 16, 1942, in Irvine, Kentucky to the late Ray and Ada Stone Stamper.
Ella was a member of the Ivory Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Wendell Stamper; along with one sister, Mary Elizabeth Stamper.
Survivors include two sons, Bradley Johnson and Danny Johnson; two grandchildren and one great grandson; one sister, Margie Stamper; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends to miss her and mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Ella Marie Johnson will be conducted on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at 12 Noon in the Lewis Home for Funerals Chapel. Brother Marvin Neal will be officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services from 11:00 a.m. until 12 Noon. The family has chosen cremation after the services.

Vickie Murphy, age 72, of Richmond, Kentucky, transitioned to her Heavenly home on Friday, February 2, 2024, surrounded by those who loved her.
Vickie adored her family and lived her life dedicated to them, especially her husband of 53 years, Paul Murphy.
She retired from The Ridge, where she served for over 30 years; building many life long friendships that she valued greatly.
Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Elsie Henry, and her in-laws, Raymond and Gertrude Murphy.
Left to carry on her legacy of love are her daughters, Paula Murphy Devers and Kristie Murphy Larison (Walter); her brother, Gary Henry (Fonda); grandchildren, Hannah Devers, Madeline Moorehead (Tristan), Seth Devers (Rylee), Morgan Larison; one great-grandchild, Archer Devers; and her little dog, Leo.
Visitation will be from 12:30-2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, with the service to begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main Street, Richmond. Burial to follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Officiating will be Bro. Gene Johns.
Pallbearers to serve will be Seth Devers, Tristan Moorehead, Anthony Henry, T. J. Stamper, Clay Thomas, and Robert Flanery.

Kenneth Raider, age 75, of Irvine, Kentucky departed this life on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the Marcum and Wallace Medical Center in Irvine, Kentucky.
Kenneth was born on June 29, 1948, in Dayton, Ohio to the late Joe and Pocahontas Canter Raider.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by two brothers, David Rader and Marion Lewis Raider; along with one sister, Virginia Evelyn Raider.
Survivors include three children, Tomothy Darrell Raider and wife Loretta, Veronica Lee Evans, and Christina Pocahontas Harvey; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and three brothers, Richard and wife Charlotte, Ronald and wife Marilyn, and Michael and wife Theresa Raider; two sisters, Linda Raider Reynolds and husband Jim and Brenda Raider Marrs and husband Fred; along with numerous other nieces and nephews and relatives and friends to miss him and mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Kenneth Raider were conducted on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at 2 p.m. in the Lewis Home for Funerals Chapel with Brother Brandon Rader officiating. Interment followed in the Sparks Cemetery in Irvine, Kentucky. The family will received friends from 12 Noon until 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
The pallbearers were Aaron, Brent, Rick, Ryan Raider; Trae Comley, and Matthew Marrs.

Carrie Jo Estes Sewell, age 79, of Racetrack Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at her home following a sudden illness.
She was born January 24, 1945, in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Lemon and Callie Horn Estes. She retired from Hart Schaffner Marx and from the Estill County School System where she worked as a Kitchen Manager. She was a member of the Corinth Christian Church, and she had lived in Estill County all her life.
Mrs. Sewell is survived by her husband, William Donald Sewell; two sons, Jeff Sewell and Danny Sewell (Jacquline), both of Estill County; one sister, Emma Dennis, Estill County; two brothers, Bobby Estes, Clark County; and Paul Estes, Estill County; four grandchildren, Tyler Sewell (Tasha), Brooke Feltrop (Andrew), Taylor Sewell (Kennedy), and Kerstin Turner (Dallas); seven great grandchildren, Isaiah Sewell, Luke Sewell, Maylen Sewell, Reed Feltrop, Jonah Feltrop, Piper Feltrop, and Josie Mae Sewell; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Lois Walters, Anna Walters, and Lula B. Sewell; and two brothers, Charlie Estes and Lemon Estes Jr.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, February 3, 2024, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Linville Dunaway and Bro. Dennis Pasley officiating. Burial was at the Fielder Cemetery. Visitation was held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Sandra Kay Lopresto, age 60, passed away Monday, January 29, 2023 at Stanton Nursing Center, Stanton, Kentucky.
She was born December 18, 1963 in Hazard, Kentucky to the late Charles Guy and Virginia Fern Tyra Madden.
Survivors include sons, Jonathan Goodwin (Ashley) and William Goodwin (Rachel); a daughter, Samantha Morgan Lopresto; a grandson, Rhodes Goodwin; three sisters, Evelyn Neely (Danny), Pat Young, and Lawanna Daugherty (Robert); honorary son, Josh Geiger; nieces and nephews, Jamie Lay, Josh Wells, Megan Curtis, Bryan Young, Amanda Madden, Casey Crawford, Charlie Young, Cody Mathis, and Kendall Daugherty; great-nieces and nephews, Kailey Lay, Raegan Lay, Michael Lay, Kevin Lay, Grant Wells, Josh Davis, Jenna Davis, Aubree Daugherty, Billy Crawford, McKenzie Crawford, Tony Crawford, Mavis Crawford, Elisha Crawford, Avery Mathis, and Nevaeh Daugherty.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James Michael Madden; a sister, Robin Lay; a nephew, Waylon Daugherty.
Services will be held Thursday, February 8, 2024, 4 p.m. at Clay City Eaton Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday. 1-4 p.m., at Wells Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton. Burial will be in Clay City Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers.

Gladys Collins Vires, 90, of Means, Kentucky, passed away Monday, January 29, 2024 in Stanton. She was the widow of John Everett Vires.
She was born August 28, 1933 in Hazard, Kentucky, to the late Abraham and Maudie Lewis Collins and was a longtime cook in restaurants and schools.
Her survivors include: daughters, Linda Brown (Doug) of Pensacola, Florida, Velda Faye Martin of Hazard, and Josephine Browning of Stanton; grandchildren, Dustin Browning, John Browning, Brandy Browning, Mark Roberts, Angela Turner, Kaelyn Martin, Henry Blevins, and Michelle Stewart; and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sons, Michael Wayne Vires and Manuel Vires; brothers, Seldon Collins, J.D. Collins, Ray Lee Collins, Henry Lee Collins, Matt Collins, Jimmy Darrell Collins, and Eli Collins; sisters Betty Melton and Myrtle Oliver; and a granddaughter, Jessica Roberts.
A private family service will be held at a later time.

Alfred Nelson Spencer, age 70, widower of Celia Elaine Spencer, passed away Friday, January 26, 2024 at his home in Clay City, Kentucky.
He was born August 25, 1953 in Jackson, Kentucky, to the late Fendrick and Eva Fraley Spencer.
A janitor at the Powell County High School, he loved gardening, the outdoors, and his dog Belle. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Survivors include step-daughters, Tamara Matthis (Leo Lester) of Pasco County, Florida; and Tracy White of Powell County; a step-son, Tim Bennett of Bath County; brothers, Adam Ray Spencer of Campton and Mervin Spencer of Ohio; a sister, Kaye Fugate of Middletown, Ohio; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kermit Spencer, Kenneth Spencer, Charles Spencer and Bradley Spencer.
A celebration of life service may be planned at a later time.
