Barbara Ann Back Conley, 83
|
Barbara Ann Back Conley, age 83, widow of the late Robert “Bob” Earnest Conley, passed away surrounded by those she loved on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester, Kentucky.
She was born in Sassafras, Kentucky, on January 15, 1941, to the late Dennis Back, Sr. and the late Gertrude Lena Hall Back.
Barbara attended the Stanton First Church of God and was a devoted follower of Christ Jesus. She loved playing and spending time with the many dogs she has had through the years, most recently her beloved “George”. Barbara was a very generous person to those who were in need and had a deep desire to help those who were less fortunate.
She spent her professional career as a nurse, graduating from the nursing program at Kentucky State University. During her time as a nurse Barbara worked for the Powell County Health Department, Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, and Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Shane Conley; and one brother, Dennis “Sonny” Back.
Barbara is survived by one daughter, Angela Robin Wells (Michael) of Lexington; two grandchildren, Jonathan Conley (April) of Jeffersonville and Kaylee McFarland of Mt. Sterling; two great grandchildren, Abby Conley and Mia Conley; and her extended family, Doyle and Aleta McFarland.
Visitation was held from 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services officiated by Bro. Robert Rice and Bro. Anthony Molihan will be held at the funeral home at 12 Noon on Wednesday, March 6th.
Burial was held at Kennon Cemetery in Clay City with Jonathan Conley, Doyle McFarland, Danny Rigdon, Danny Sparks, Linville Willoughby and Dean Rogers serving as active pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were Ray Conley, Damon Conley, Michael Wells, Judy Parks, Bob Imhoff, and Bro. Larry Mullins.
Charlotte Anne Gooch, 63

Charlotte Anne Gooch, age 63, of Berea, Kentucky departed this life on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital in Berea, Kentucky.
Charlotte was born on February 19, 1961, in Middletown, Ohio to the late Virgil and Anna Lee Aldridge Gullette.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Larry Gullette; and one sister, Barbara Issacs.
Survivors include three sons, Mondale Gooch (Susan), Ronald Gooch, and Tim Gooch (Becky); five grandchildren, Kandi, Miranda, Natalie, Ashley, and Jordan; one great granddaughter, Nevaeh; two brothers, Paul Gullette (Barbara) and James Brown “JB” Gulette (Sandra); nine sisters, Rosetta Evans (Donald), Norma J. Morgan, Mary Bilyeu, Carolyn Moore (Kendall), Linda Lamb (Jackie), Wanda Gooch (Namon) and Teresa Marshall (Calvin); and numerous other nieces and nephews and relatives and friends to miss her and mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Charlotte Anne Gooch were conducted on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Whitehall Holiness Church in Richmond, with Brother Calvin Marshall officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. at the church.
Pallbearers were Mondale, Ronald, Tim, and Jordan Gooch, Zack Chasteen, Landon Owens, and Chris Gullette.
Honorary pallbearers were Paul and J.B. Gullette.
Roger Thomas "Tom" Taylor, 69

Roger Thomas "Tom" Taylor, age 69, widower of Glenda Lee Taylor, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born July 30, 1954 in Rush City, Minnesota to the late Ralph Leo and Fayewood Helen Blackburn Taylor. Tom was a retired Physicians Assistant working for the University of Kentucky Hospital and a retired United States Air Force Veteran.
Survivors include, sons, Adam Taylor (Mallory) and Alex Taylor; a brother, Robert Taylor (Cathy); sisters, Rita Taylor and Rachel Taylor (BJ); and grandchildren, Amela Taylor and Aiden Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Glenda Lee Taylor.
Services will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2024, 2 p.m., at Wells Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton, by Bro. Denny French and Bro. Kenny Crouch. Visitation will be on Tuesday 12 Noon - 2 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Means Cemetery with military honors.

Paul Edward Dennis, 74

Paul Edward Dennis, age 74, of Winston Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, March 1, 2024, at Baptist Health in Lexington following a long illness.
He was born June 10, 1949, in Estill County, and was the son of the late Glendon Lewis Dennis and Geneva Walters Dennis. He worked for the Trane Manufacturing Co. as a Sheet Metal Fabricator for 38 years. He was a United States Army Veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Sandhill Christian Church and he had lived in Estill County for all of his life.
Mr. Dennis is survived by his wife, Brenda Joy Parks Dennis; two sons, Paul Bradley Dennis (Jenny) and Keith Edward Dennis (Trina), both of Estill County;
one sister, Nancy Fox of Estill County; two brothers, Doug Dennis (Emma) and Richard Dennis (Carol), both of Estill County; four grandchildren, Kayla Conrad (Cameron), Brandon Dennis (Bailey), Maycee Dennis, and Carter Dennis; and one great grandchild, Noah Conrad.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Dennis.
Special thanks to Baptist Health Infusion in Richmond, Nephrology Associates in Lexington, and all those who lovingly cared for Paul.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 4, 2024, 11 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Matt Vaught and Bro. Aaron Gabbard officiating. Burial was at the Dennis Cemetery. Visitation waw held on Sunday from 6-9 p.m.
Pallbearers were Brandon Dennis, Cameron Conrad, Carter Dennis, Charlie Tipton, Larry Dean Floyd, Ricky Dennis, Dwayne Fox, and Kelvin Dennis.

Donald Puckett, 66

Donald Puckett, age 66, of Tipton Ridge in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Friday, March 1, 2024, at his home following a short illness.
He was born July 9, 1957, in Madison County, and was the son of the late George Harvey Puckett and Stella McIntosh Puckett. He was a Forklift Operator for Infiltrator Water Tech, and he loved sitting on the porch and watching animals. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
Mr. Puckett is survived by his wife, Donna Jo Riddell Puckett; three daughters, Marilyn Puckett of Estill County, Kellie Puckett of Fayette County; and Ashley Puckett of Estill County; two sisters, Dimple Woolery of Estill County; and Evangeline Coyne of New York; one brother, Tony Puckett of Estill County; and two grandchildren, Nicholas Don Puckett and Luke Phillip Puckett.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dolly Faye White and Joan Marie Wasson; and three brothers, Clyde Puckett, Manuel Puckett, and David Glenn White.
A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday, March 5, 2024, 6 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Terry Barnes officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5-6 p.m.

Troy Smith, age 71, widower of Glenda Smith, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Baptist Health Richmond.
He was born November 6, 1952 in Hazard, Kentucky to the late Rufus and Dora Vivian Salyers Smith.
Survivors include, sons, Tonny Strange (Samantha), Terry Strange (Amanda), Donnie Smith (Mary), and Tommy Rollyson; daughters, Brittany Poynter (Ray) and Roxanne Swartz (Dustin); a brother, Pete Smith; sisters, Eva Smith and Zelda Wright; grandchildren, Kelsey, Brooklyn, Zaley, TJ, Jade, Dylan, Emily, Wendell, Amanda, Darren, Taylor, Walter, Kayla, Anna, Kary, Emily, Elise, Courtney, Kyla, Colton, Christian, and Sayre'; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; sons, Troy Smith Jr., Billy Joe Smith. and Timmy Rollyson; and siblings, Curt Osborn, Sadie Woods, and Debbie Jones.
Services were held Sunday, March 3, 2024, 4 p.m., at Wells Funeral Home, Stanton. Visitation was held Sunday, 12 Noon - 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Kathy Combs Nicholson, 77

Kathy Combs Nicholson, widow of Charles Edward Nicholson and the daughter of the late Stanley Lee and Virginia Frost Combs was born in Winston, Kentucky on November 30, 1946 and departed this life at her home in Heidelberg, Kentucky on Friday, March 1, 2024 at the age of 77 years, 3 months, and 1 day.
She is survived by her two children, Robin Haynes and boyfriend, Cecil Sparks, Jr. of St. Johns, Florida; and Stanley Dovell (Maricel) of Maryland; three grandchildren, Shante Johnson of Heidelberg, Charles Haynes of St. Johns, Florida; and David Luke Dovell of Maryland; four great grandchildren, Sarah, Neveah, Eliza, and Natalie; two sisters, Eyvonne Combs Tidwell of Florida and Gayle Combs Sellers of Georgia; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Kathy was preceded in death by a brother, Wendell Combs; a great grandchild, Emily King; and a son-in-law, James Haynes.
Visitation was held Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the Word of Life Pentecostal Church, Butler Ridge Road in Beattyville. Services were held Sunday, March 3rd at 8 a.m. at the Church.
Newnam Funeral Home of Beattyville was in charge of arrangements.
Patricia Anne Stephenson Summers Muncie, 82

Patricia Anne Stephenson Summers Muncie passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.
She was born in Petersburg, Virginia on December 16, 1941 to Mr. and Mrs. John Charles Summers (Alice Wood). During her high school years, she attended Stuart Hall School, Vero Beach High School and graduated from Charleston High School in 1959. She
spent her summer studying at Stetson University before attending Transylvania
University where she earned her degree in 1963. She was a Pioneers cheerleader and
member of Chi Omega sorority. Pat did graduate work at EKU and University of Tulsa
where she received her certification in Basic Petroleum Geology for the non-geologist
from the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
Pat and her husband Tom made their home in Winchester where she taught in Clark
County Public Schools from 1964 to 2005, both as a regular classroom teacher and as
a substitute. In her early years at Hannah McClure, she taught English in grades 2, 4, 5
and 6. In her later years she took over for a retiring middle school science teacher,
loving the opportunity to serve the families of Clark County with her signature no
nonsense approach.
Pat is survived by her three children, Todd Stephenson Muncie (Cheryl), Melissa
Muncie Clifton, and Thomas Summers Muncie; and her stepsons, Thomas Daniel Muncie, Jr.
(Lisa) and John Duncan Muncie (Beverly).
Padie loved her grandchildren Catherine Clifton McLaughlin (Tim), Margaret McDowell Clifton, Megan Lynn Muncie, Eleanor
James Clifton, Emma Scott Muncie, Ava Noelle Muncie and Sarah Muncie Tierney
(Patrick), Dr. Christopher Daniel Muncie (Laura) and Andrew Duncan Muncie. She is
also survived by her brother in law, Mr. Doyle Stone and her Muncie and Summer family
cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas D.
Muncie, her brother and sister in law, Mr. and Mrs. John Wood Summers, and her sister-
in-laws, Carol Ann Stone and Betty Ann Rye McGowen.
Mrs. Muncie was a member of the Colonial Dames of America, Fortnightly Club,
Winchester Country Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Transylvania
University Chi Omega Chapter and a Kentucky Colonel. Her pioneering skills on the
computer, her beautiful needlepoint work and anything bearing an owl motif will bring a
smile to her loved ones in her memory.
Visitation was held at First Christian Church, 24 E. Hickman St. Winchester, KY on
Sunday, March 3rd from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The service began at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Jerry
Johns officiating. An informal reception was held in the fellowship hall after the
service.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the caring team from Hospice East would be
appreciated.

Adrienne Rochelle Kennon, age 31, wife of Jonathon Mullins, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024 at her home.
She was born July 12, 1992 in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky to Richard Douglas Kennon Jr. and Vanessa Napier.
Survivors include her husband, Jonathon Mullins; three sons, Caiden Mullins, Bently Mullins, and Jackson Mullins; her father, Rick Kennon Jr.; her mother, Vanessa Napier; her mother-in-law, Debbie Barnes (James); her father-in-law, Earl Mullins; and a sister, Summer Barnes.
Services will be held Friday, March 1, 2024, 2 p.m., at Wells Funeral Home, 777 West College Avenue, Stanton. Visitation will be held Friday, 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Kennon Cemetery.

Ina Faye Murphy, age 73, of Stevens Avenue in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, following a long illness.
She was born January 11, 1951, in Jackson County, and was the daughter of the late Elmer and Rosetta Isaacs Marcum. She was a CMA for the Central Baptist Hospital, and she was a member of the Drip Rock Baptist Church. She had lived in Estill County for most of her life.
Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her husband, Glyndon Murphy, and she is survived by one daughter, Melissa Isaacs of Estill County; five sisters, Geraldine Fowler of Estill County; Opal Hogeback of Ohio; Anna Lee Farthing, Arlene Clark, and Sheila Cox, all of Estill County; four grandchildren, Jacob Murphy, Adrian Rogers, Ashley Isaacs, and Aaron Isaacs; and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Wanda Barker; and four brothers, Eugene, Farris, Kenneth, and Elmer Jr. Marcum.

Lisa Karen Cole, age 59, of Trotting Ridge Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at her home following a sudden illness.
She was born September 3, 1964, in Perry County and was the daughter of the late Burley Moore and Cassie Combs Moore Compton. She worked as a nurse at the Irvine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and had lived in Estill County most of her life.
Mrs. Cole is survived by her husband, Thomas Dwayne Cole; her stepfather, Danny Compton of Pulaski County; one sister, Rita Hunter of Madison County; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, February 24, 2024, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Anthony Cruse officiating. Burial was at the West Irvine Cemetery. Visitation was held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Tony Dwayne Murphy, 57

Tony Dwayne Murphy, age 57, of New Fox Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, February 19, 2024, at his home following a short illness.
He was born March 17, 1966, in Estill County, and was the son of the late Bobby Gene Murphy and Carolyn Sue Dawes Murphy. He was a Sawyer for Powell Valley Sawmill and attended the Irvine First Church of God. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife, Gina Michelle Freeman Murphy; one daughter: Amber Skaggs (Robert) of Madison County; one son, Brandon Murphy of Estill County; one brother, Mike Murphy of Estill County; and one grandson, Avery James Skaggs.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 23, 2024, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Rose-Freeman Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11 a.m. to service time at 1 p.m.

Christine "Teenie" Patrick, 96

Christine "Teenie" Patrick (nee Powell) of Liberty Township, Ohio, earned her crown of jewels on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at the age of 96. A gift indeed, Teenie was born on Christmas Eve in 1927 to Ancil and Lillie Mae (nee Snowden) Powell.
The last of her siblings, Teenie served as the matriarch for not just her children and grandchildren, but for all her nieces and nephews as well. A servant of God, Christine was an active member of Breiel Church. Over the years she served in numerous ministries there and elsewhere in the Church of God. As a charter member of the Liberty Twp. Historical Society and the Liberty Twp. Garden Club, Teenie created many lifelong friendships. Perhaps she is best known for baking the best sourdough bread known to man. Teenie will be forever loved and cherished by all that knew her.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents, Ancil and Lillie Mae Powell; husband, Earl Byrum Patrick; a son, Bill Patrick; siblings, Lola Mastin, Lizzie Brookshire, Leora Witt, Zella Berry, and Glynn Powell; and a grandson-in-law, Jeffrey Friedman.
Christine is survived by her children, Christy Henry (Johnny), Byrum Patrick (Brian Hickey), and Lisa Gormas (Paul), a daughter-in-law, Ann Margaret Patrick; grandchildren, David Warren (Beki), Karen Patrick (Sue Henry), Angela Garvey (KC), Sonia Bach, Roger Henry, Susan Patrick (Lisa), Sara Patrick, Annie Cantrell (Justin), Laura Jeltema (Jamie), Katie Kirklin (Jason), Angie Gormas, and Christy Gormas; numerous great grandchildren; and many loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 23, 2024 from 5-7 p.m., at Breiel Church, 2000 N Breiel Blvd., Middletown, Ohio 45042. Funeral Service will be Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 10:00 am at Breiel Church. Interment will immediately follow in Jackson Chapel UMC Cemetery, Irvine, Kentucky.
Christine loved all flowers, but donations may also be made to the Joy Circle at Breiel Church.

Amanda Beth Mills Gerber, age 44, of George Martin Avenue in Georgetown, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024, in Georgetown.
She was born January 22, 1979, in Fayette County, and was the daughter of Ray Mills and the late Janie Martin. She worked at the Peddlers Mall in Georgetown, and she attended the Rice Station Christian Church. She earned a Black Belt in Karate and she had lived in Georgetown for most of her life.
In addition to her father, she is survived by one daughter, Taylor Gerber of Georgetown; one son, Dustin Gerber of Estill County; and two sisters, Crissy Davis and Kim Emmert, both of Estill County.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by one brother, Israel Mills; and one niece Bribri Mills.
A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, February 22, 2024, 6 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry McIntosh officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 to 6 p.m.
Elmer Wade Johnson, 72

Elmer Wade Johnson, age 72, known as “Butch”, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Baptist Health – Richmond.
Butch was born on August 31, 1951, the son of the late Elmer & Gladys Shifflet Johnson. At the age of 6, he moved to Kentucky with his family and was forever “from Kentucky”. Butch enjoyed fishing & going to auctions, but work was really his true hobby and he was proud to be an 18-wheel truck driver for both RTI and most recently associated with Hurricane Express, Inc.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Johnson; two children, Marissa Johnson and Dustin “DJ” Johnson; three grandchildren, Aliyah Lamb, Khloe Lamb and Waylon Johnson; one sister, Sue McKinney; one half-sister, Janet Johnson; as well as a host of other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Debbie Figg.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, 328 West Main Street, Richmond, with Bro. Jeff Marcum officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home.

Nellie Anita Alcorn, 76

Nellie Anita Alcorn, born on June 15, 1947, in Estill, Kentucky, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, February 15, 2024. She was 76 years old.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Alcorn, her granddaughter, Emalee Mariam Alcorn; her parents, Arthur and Susie Watson; her brothers, Arthur Jr., Harold, Lynwood, and Donald Watson; and her sisters, Francie Spring and Wavelene Taulbee.
Mrs. Alcorn is survived by her two sons, Fred Alcorn (Jamie) and James Alcorn (Tracey); her grandsons, Brandon Alcorn (Tyrie), Jordan Alcorn, and Justin Alcorn; her great grandson, Landon Alcorn; her sister, Juanita Tipton; and her brothers, Gene Watson (Eva), Elzy Watson (Innas), and Paul Watson; and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Nellie was a true Proverbs 31 woman. She was devoted to the Lord and to her church, Towne Boulveard Church of God. Even in her final days, her confidence in the Lord remained steady. She often reminded her family that God was in control and she knew where she was going. As much as she was devoted to the Lord, she was devoted to her family. The kind of deep, sacrificial love she held for them was unmatched. She had a way of making her family and friends feel so special and loved. She will be sincerely missed, but her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who love her.
Visitation will be held at Anderson Funeral Home, 1357 East 2nd Street in Franklin, Ohio, on Monday, February 26, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 27th, at 12:00 Noon. The service will be performed by Pastor Duane Harney of Community Harvest Church and Pastor Mark Jackson of Towne Boulevard Church of God.

Arthur Rawlins was born March 7, 1941 and died in Winchester, Kentucky on March 9, 2021. He was an 80-year-old veteran of the 101st Airborne, IBM retiree, Shriner, Mason, VFW, American Legion and Vietnam Veteran.
A lifetime rock and roller, he loved Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, Little Richard and doo-wop. He was a fan of UK basketball and an aficionado of classic cars, skilled in the restoration of them and jukeboxes.
He is survived by his spouse, Rachel E Rawlins; children, Danny Vaughn, Tina Rawlins and Belinda Rawlins; and grandchildren, Jocelyn Rawlins and Athena Vaughn.
His Memorial Service had been postponed due to Covid.
