Joyce Ann Patton, 65
|
Joyce Ann Patton was born on February 25, 1959, in Charleston, West Virginia and passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, in Irvine, Kentucky. She was 65 years old. She was the daughter of the late John Kieszling and Emogene Niswonder.
Joyce is survived by her children, Karl Rifenbark (Joyce), Josh Rifenbark (Phyllis), Jessica Cox (Stevie), Skye Greene, Starr Smith (Brad), all of Irvine; Sunshine Greene of Sand Gap, Junior Sizemore (Elzie) of London and Eddie Sizemore of Irvine; and two sisters, Kimberley Hamman and Christine Hurst, both of Virginia. Joyce was blessed with 24 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by a brother, David Patton; and two sisters, Sandy Edwards and Arnetta Patton; as well as two great grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Ms. Joyce will be held at 11 a.m.. Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Lakes Funeral Home, McKee, with Bro. Brian Gabbard officiating. Burial will follow in the Joyce Ann’s Memorial Garden located in Irvine. A visitation will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.
Rhonda D. Carroll, 59

Rhonda D. Carroll, age 59, of Doe Creek Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024, at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence, Kentucky.
She was born October 30, 1964, in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Bonnie and Phyllis McIntosh Carroll. She attended the Church of Christ, and she had lived in Estill County all her life.
Rhonda is survived by two brothers, Randall Carroll and Raymond Carroll (Mary), both of Estill County.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, August 28, 2024, 12 Noon at the Carroll Cemetery.

John Daniel Martin, 74

John Daniel Martin, born to Richard and Georgianna Martin on October 25, 1949, passed from this life on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
He was the husband of Lillie Fountain Martin for 57 years, the father to James Martin (Tanya), Shelly Chesnut, Tina Arrowood (Grafton), and Melissa Goolman (Brad); and a grandfather to 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his mother and father; four brothers, one sister and three granddaughters.
He is survived by three sisters.
Mr. Martin served in the United States Army in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a mechanic at Paul Miller Ford for 15 years and a farmer.
Services were conducted at Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home on Monday August 26, 2024 at 1 p.m. by Bro Chris Williams with visitation from 11 a.m. until the hour of service. His final resting place was on his farm in the Martin-Berryman Cemetery located at 225 Cedar View Lane (formerly 14735 Irvine Road). Grandsons served as pallbearers.
Louise "LuAnne" Mittman Wulf, 90

Louise "LuAnne" Mittman Wulf passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 23, 2024, in Richmond, Kentucky, at the age of 90, surrounded by all five of her children. She was born on June 11, 1934, in Indianapolis, Indiana. LuAnne was a newlywed when she attended her first gospel meeting and then made her choice to follow Jesus, remaining faithful to that vow all her days. She loved well, and was well-loved, by all who knew her. She and her husband Gordon finished well their 69 years of marriage.
While rearing five children, LuAnne had a variety of careers which she cheerfully embraced. Once the children were raised, LuAnne took a one-year job in Kentucky. She felt immediately at home in Kentucky, and more career opportunities opened for her. While working at EKU, she earned her master’s degree at age 75. She was honored to call the Bluegrass her home for the past 30 years.
LuAnne was preceded in death by her husband; her sister, Patricia Shepard; and brother, Charles Allen “Chuck” Mittman.
She is survived by five children, Fred (Lauretta), Richard, Fern (John), Evelyn (Joe) and Bev (Mark); ten grandchildren, Jessica, Christiana, Joe, Kent, Jennifer, Lacy, Jason, Nolan, Travis and Troy; five great grandchildren, Dylan, Calyx, Ruby, Frankie and Michael Jr.; and a brother, Dick Mittman; along with nieces, nephews, and an abundance of friends.
Memorial services for Louise “LuAnne” Wulf will be held at Farm Bureau Hall on August 27th, 2024, at 11 a.m.; officiating will be several family and friends to honor LuAnne.

Darrell Wayne Muncy II, 43

Darrell Wayne Muncy II passed away at the age of 43 on Tuesday, August 22, 2024, after a year-long battle with cancer.
A devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joshua Shawn Muncy; close cousin, Jonathan Bailey; grandparents, Dalton and Carolyn Jones, Frank and Betty Muncy, Wallace “Bill” and Hattie Sparks, Bettie Tipton and Dago Muncy; great grandparents, Ethyl B. and Hessie Rose; and aunt and uncle, Mary Nell Rawlins and Frankie Muncy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Amy Muncy; his two kids, Cole and Ashton Parke; as well as his parents, Donna and John Bailey, Darrell and LaDonna Muncy, and countless siblings including his brothers, Cody Muncy, Tim, Kendall, Jeremy, Jacob, Dakota, Andrew, Kayden, Douglas, and John; and sisters, Cheyann, Jessica, Alyssa, Bridgette, Kylee, Michell, and Tanya.
He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and hundreds of friends that had the pleasure of knowing him.
Never one to find himself without a familiar face, he made sure to make an effort to get to know people everywhere he went and will leave behind a living legacy across the entire central Kentucky region. Born in Irvine, Kentucky, on September 21, 1980, he attended Model Laboratory School and ran his own real estate appraisal business. Marrying the love of his life on October 15, 2011, and having a family, he loved frequenting the many lakes of the tri-state area, camping, fishing, and cooking with his friends and family.
Larger than life itself, stories about him could be told until the end of time and certainly could never be condensed into just one tale. Having touched more lives than perhaps even he dreamed possible, he is dearly missed by all who knew him and cherished forever by those who loved him.
The family will receive extended family and friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, West Main Street, Richmond. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 7 p.m. with Rev. David Green officiating.

Lula Morris, age 86, a resident of the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2024, following a long illness.
She was born January 10, 1937, in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Willie and Florence Edmonson Kirby. She was a homemaker and attended the Holiness Church. She had lived in Estill County all his life.
Mrs. Morris is survived by one daughter, Shelia Coffey (Randy) of Estill County; one son, Gregory Morris of Estill County; one brother, Albert Kirby of Estill County; six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Morris; her daughter, Connie Morris; three sisters, Rachel Woolery, Freda Johnson, and Beulah Crowe; and one brother, Simp Kirby.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, August 26, 2024, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Hager officiating. Burial was at the Kirby Cemetery. Visitation was held on Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m
Pallbearers were Jon Wilson, Thomas Hamblin, Marvin Hunt, Cecil Hardy, Tyler Neal, and Gregory Morris.

Sarah Helen Calmes Estes, 67

Sarah Helen Calmes Estes, age 67, of Calmes Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington.
She was born October 8, 1956, in Richmond, Kentucky, and was the daughter of Howard Calmes and the late Virginia Wiseman Calmes. She was a graduate of the Estill County High School class of 1974. She soon married her high school sweetheart, Garry Estes, later that year, and they were married for 49 wonderful years. She was a homemaker, devoted wife, and loving mother to her two daughters Julie Anna and Alissa Leigh. Her life’s work was dedicated to her family, and she was truly a Proverbs 31 woman. Sarah was an active, life-long member of the River Drive Christian Church where she served as youth leader, VBS coordinator, and on Moore’s Circle. Sarah loved nothing more than to spend time with her family, daughters, and most of all her four grandchildren, Hannah, Harper, Slade, and Kenna.
In addition to her husband, Garry, she is survived by her daughters, Julie Raider (Brent) and Alissa Bell (Kenny); her father, Howard Calmes; and two sisters, Judy Adams (Tracy) and Jane Pendergrass. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, four grandchildren, Hannah, Harper, Slade, and Kenna, whom she loved with her whole heart. Sarah always said to her grandchildren that she loved them with her whole heart and that they made her super happy.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Wiseman Calmes; her in-laws, Merriell and Modena Smith Estes; her brother-in-law, Ronald Estes; and her sister-in-law, Carolyn Estes Tuggle.
Visitation will be held at River Drive Christian Church on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 6-9 p.m. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 1 p.m. at River Drive Christian Church. Services will be conducted by Bro. Randy Beard. A brief graveside service will be held immediately thereafter at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Brent Raider, Kenny Bell, Bryan Adams, Shaun Adams, Jamie Bingham, and Dalton Leet.
Honorary pallbearers are Slade Freeman, Brian Gordon, Terry Carter, Derek Estes, and the men of River Drive Christian Church.

Joshua Glen Walling, age 36, of Scott Court in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington.
He was born June 25, 1988, in Montgomery County and was the son of Henry and Dorothy Townsend Knight. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
Survivors in addition to his parents include two brothers, Chris Hoover (Chelsea) and Matthew Townsend, both of Estill County; a special niece, Ivy Hoover; and special nephew, Finn Hoover.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Ruby Moreland and James and Mary Townsend.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, August 25, 2024, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Chris Winkler officiating. Burial will be at the Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 6-9 p.m.
Pallbearers are Henry Knight, Chris Hoover, Steve Hoover, Matthew Townsend, Joe Townsend, and John Townsend.

Charles Dwayne Watts, 67

Charles Dwayne Watts, husband of Marlena Hatton Watts and the son of Charlie Watts and the late Mary Ellen Arrowood Watts, was born in Breathitt County, Kentucky on September 24, 1956 and departed this life in Richmond, Kentucky on August 22, 2024 at the age of 67 years, 10 months, and 28 days. He was a member of the Providence Pentecostal Church in Jackson, Kentucky and a former Tamper Operator for CSX Railroad.
In addition to his father, Charlie Watts of Jackson; and his wife, Marlena Watts of Beattyville; Charles is survived by his two sons, Jason Watts (Rita) of Irvine and Joshua Watts (Kaylee) of Booneville a grandson, Dakota Watts of Waco; a step-grandson, Tyler Johnson of Irvine; brothers and sisters, Patsy Watts, Faye Maggard, Susie Rudd, Becky Curtis, and Michael, Ralph, and Timothy Watts; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ellen Watts; and one sister, Barbara Blankenship.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 25, 2024, 1-3 p.m., at Newnam Funeral Home Chapel, 108 Center Street in Beattyville, followed by funeral services at 3 p.m. Interment will be at the Hollon Cemetery, Estes Ridge Road, in Beattyville.

Debra Jean Cobble, age 61, of Irvine, Kentucky,departed this life on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Saint Joesph Hospital in Berea, Kentucky.
She was born on January 3, 1963, in Rushville, Indiana to Elmer and Betty Murry Roberts. She was of the Christian Faith.
Debra Jean is preceded in death by her mother, Betty Murry Roberts; and one child, Timothy Cobble.
Survivors include her father, Elmer Roberts; four children, Aleisha Cobble, Joshua Cobble, Katherine Hamilton and Benjamin Cobble (Brooke); four grandchildren, Kieran Wireman, LaDonna Wireman, Lora Cobble, and Carson Cobble; one brother, Randall Roberts; and two sisters, Joni Boyd and Carol Wiegman; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to miss her and to mourn her passing.
Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers for Debra.
Funeral services for Debra Jean Cobble will be conducted on Saturday, August 24,2024 at Lewis Home for Funerals at 1 p.m. Brother Timothy Wiegman will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Russell Flat Cemetery at Sand Springs in Jackson County.
Peggy Ann Wilcox Kelley, 85

Peggy Ann Wilcox Kelley, more affectionately known as "Honey", left us on a beautiful sunny day. She was born February 5, 1958 and passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
She wasn't a fan of the cold or the rain, and preferred to do things her own way, so this is appreciated by us all. Peggy enjoyed time with her people, music, and was always up for a game of cards or a puzzle.
Peggy leaves behind many people who will miss her, and a few who will mourn her indefinitely; Carlos, her husband of many years; their daughter, JoAnna (Chad); her true reason for living and fighting for so long, grandchildren Blake and Kylie; her friend of many years and constant phone companion, Faye; her faithful K9 shadow, Cujo; and her newest card partner, Mahailee.
She was preceded in death by her son, Carlos L. Kelley, Jr.; and many other family members through the years.

Jeffrey Todd Woolery, age 57, of Turpin Ridge Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, August 19, 2024.
He was born August 29, 1966 in Richmond, Kentucky,but lived his whole in Estill County. He was the son of the late Steven Tracy Woolery and the late Pamela Hall Woolery.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Darlene Hall and Tracy and Fannie Lee Woolery.
Mr. Woolery is survived by two half brothers, Chance Woolery and Steven Ray Woolery.
He was an employee of RAPT Auto Parts Technology in Richmond Ky.

Nicy Branham, age 85, of Winchester, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester.
She was born in Hollonville, Wolfe County, Kentucky, to Earl and Emma Hollon. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Branham is survived by three sons, Earl Rose, Timothy Rose, and Charles Rose; three daughters, Jewell Crawford, Earline Flinchum, and Crystal Ross; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Branham; a daughter, Teresa Rose; a brother, Earl Holland Jr.; and a sister, Shirley Banks.
Funeral services were held at 12 Noon, Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel in Clay City with Bro. Bill Kennon officiating. Friends visited Thursday from 10 a.m. 'till time of the service. Burial followed in the Powells Valley Cemetery in Clay City.

Sue Bailey, age 78, of Winchester Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington following a short illness.
She was born November 20, 1945, in Richmond, Indiana, and was the daughter of the late Alfred and Edith Brandenburg Gabbard. She was a Seamstress for Mechanics Laundry and had lived in Estill County for the last 30 years.
Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her husband, James Alton Bailey III; and she is survived by two daughters, Carrie Morris of Estill County and Brenda Noe of Newport; one sister, Karen Buroker of Indiana; ten grandchildren: Brittany Spencer (Charles), Angelica Wiseman (Russell), Jonathon Bailey (Kayla), Christie Dunn (Ricky), Steven Morris (Carlena), Mistie Morris, Bryan Bailey (Ashlei), Randy Robison, Tosha True, and Anthony Noe; and several great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, James C. Bailey IV, Jeffrey Allen Bailey, and Jonathon Al Bailey; and one sister, Linda Mae Brandenburg.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, August 22, 2024, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Hoffman officiating. Burial was at the Spencer Cemetery in Campton. Visitation was held on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Paul Wayne King, 77

Paul Wayne King, 77, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Baptist Health after a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Teresa Bonny King; one daughter, his namesake, Paula Eschelle King; and one honorary son, Christopher B. Finney.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Ollie Perry and Dorothy Powell King of West Irvine; and his only brother, Robert Perry King of Cave City.
Paul Wayne, as most of his family and friends called him, was a graduate of Irvine High School. He completed a Bachelor's degree at Eastern Kentucky University in Business Administration.
He was active-duty Combat Medic for two years in the United States Army, stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 10 years.
Paul retired after 30 years as the Product Line Manager from Osram Sylvania in Winchester. He was an avid golfer and played often as a member of the Southwind Golf Course. He attended church services at Clays Mill Baptist Church as a faithful member for over 12 years.
Paul was a lifelong UK football and basketball fan and liked to drive his convertible Camaro with the top down whenever the weather permitted.
He is survived by two nieces, Robin King and Cecelia Ann Forehand; and four nephews, Derek Wayne King, Jamie King, Kevin Williams and Eddie Hughes.
He also is survived by two great-nieces, Morgan Marie King and Olivia King; and three great-nephews, Noah King, Thomas Forehand and Luke Hughes.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, August 19, 2024, 2 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Chris Winkler and Bro. Don Burkhead officiating. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held on Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Pallbearers were Christopher Finney, John Wayne King, Derek Wayne King, Clay Baber, Kevin Williams, and Robert Forehand.
Honorary pallbearers were lifelong friend, Donald “Buckwheat” Richardson; golfing buddies, Jerald McNutt, Don Burkhead, and Fred Kendig; neighbors, Steve Bisczat and J.D. Smith; cousins from Ohio, Dan Woolery and Dewaine Turpin, from Irvine, Jimmy, Randy, and Robbie Powell; all the Derby Party friends, and many friends, including Chris Mahonski and Richard Snowden.

Phyllis Ann Conrad, age 69, of Main Street in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the Fordsville Nursing and Rehab Center following a short illness.
She was born June 27, 1955, in Clark County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Ray McKinney and Margaret Estes Embree. She was a Retired Hairdresser, and she had lived in Estill County for most of her life.
Phyllis is survived by three sons, Billy Stepp of Estill County; Mark Stepp (Robin) and Steve Stepp (Janet), both of Madison County; three sisters, Janet Northern, Michelle Begley, and Wilma York, all of Madison County; four brothers Danny McKinney, Roger Embree, both of Madison County; Jason Embree and Randy Embree, both of Estill County and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 21, 2024, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Newton Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Elizabeth Ann Berryman, age 52, of Paint Lick, Kentucky, departed this life on Saturday, August 17, 2024, in Frankfort, Kentucky.
She was born in Irvine, Kentucky on July 9,1972, to Morris Berryman and Reva Alexander Berryman. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include three children, Brandon Napier, Shawn Napier, and Allyssa Napier (Missy); three grandchildren, Bently Napier, Bryson Napier, and Elias Needham; three sisters, Lisa Woods, Vickie Helton, and Tammy Berryman; and several nieces and nephews and friends to miss and mourn her passing.
A memorial service for Elizabeth Ann Berryman will be conducted on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals. Brother Steve Robinson will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Danny Anderson Curtis, age 72, of George Street in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024, at his home following a long illness.
He was born March 18, 1952, in Ohio and was the son of the late George Anderson and Beulah Rose Richardson Curtis. He served in the United Sates Army and retired from EnerSys. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
Mr. Curtis is survived by his wife, Jean Ann Johnson Curtis; two daughters, Amy Howard (Chris) of Woodford County and Shelli Curtis (Athena) of Michigan; two sons, Scott Johnson (Tessa) of Lincoln County and Paul Curtis of Madison County; one brother, Dennis Curtis of Powell County; and four grandchildren, Suzan Johnson, Elijah Johnson, Conner Howard, and Braiden Howard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Oakley Curtis.
A memorial service was conducted Saturday, August 24, 2024, 4 p.m., at 149 Hilltop Road in Irvine with Bro. Buford Powell officiating.

Tisha Cornett Hix, age 40, of Irvine, Kentucky departed this life on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the Compassionate Care Hospice Center in Richmond, Kentucky.
Tisha was born in Irvine, Kentucky on July 6, 1984, to Michael and Theresa Raider Cornett. She was a member of the Ravenna Church of God.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Savannah Kay Hix.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include two daughters, Shana Nakota Hix and Jordan Rayle Hix; two sons, Gunner Kevin Ray Hix and Justin Carol Gerber; one grandson, Bryson Lee Cornett; one brother, Michael Kent Cornett; five sisters, Vickie Sue Atchison (Reed), Debbie Lynn Charlton (William), Tammie Michelle Neal (Richard), Michelle Kay Cornett, and Sarah Beth Rogers; three special friends, Shonna Stone, Vicky Norton, and Betty King; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends to miss her and mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Tisha Cornett Hix will be conducted on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals. Brother Orvel Hisel will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until the service time of 2 p.m. at the funeral home. At the family's request, cremation will follow the service.

Rebecca Hood Simpson, age 72, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Central Parke Assisted Living & Memory Care in Mason, Ohio.
Rebecca, known to most as “Becky,” was born in Irvine, Kentucky, November 25, 1951, to the late Bert and Emma Lee Hood. She was a 1969 graduate of Irvine High School and went on to Eastern Kentucky University, where she received degrees in Data Processing and Medical Records in 1973. After graduation, Becky moved to Louisville, Kentucky and was a member of the Deer Park Baptist Church.
Over the years, Becky enjoyed planning elaborate trips and traveling with her husband. She was also a very talented seamstress and baker, and loved sharing her talents with family and friends who were celebrating birthdays and special moments.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert Powell Hood, Jr. and Emma Lee Hutchison Hood; and her brother, Bert Douglas Hood.
Becky is survived by her husband, Emmett Simpson of Louisville; a sister-in-law, Patty Hood of Irvine; two nieces, Elizabeth Ashley Hood-Morley (Robert) and Chelsea Hood Reece (Clay), both of Lexington; and a special cousin, Janie Stone (Ryan) of Louisville.
Funeral services for Becky will be conducted on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 2 p.m., at Warren F. Toler Funeral Home with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Irvine, Kentucky.
Pallbearers are Matt Hutchison, John Hutchison, Ryan Stone, Tobo Bryant, Richard Snowden, Tracy Snowden, and Ashley Witt.
Family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

John Stanley Jackson, age 71, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the Marcum and Wallace Hospital.
John was born on March 24, 1953, in Jefferson, Georgia to the late Lawrence and Lillie Mae Clark Jackson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Patton; one brother, Larry Jackson; and two sisters, Mildred Messamer and Elizabeth Brooks.
Mr. Jackson is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Victoria Jackson; his children, Kimberly Renfro (Orville) and Robert Jackson; and three grandchildren, Orville and Lillie MaeLynn Renfro and Athena Lashaye Noe; along with numerous nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends to miss him and mourn his passing.
Funeral services for John Stanley Jackson were conducted on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 2 p.m. in the Lewis Home for Funerals chapel with Brother Adrian McKinney officiating.
The family received friends from 12 Noon until the service time of 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Jackson's wishes were to be cremated after the services.

Janet Jones, age 94, of South Irvine Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
She was born July 20, 1930, in Ashland, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Richard and Nellie Tipton Marcum. She retired from A.O. Smith in Mt. Sterling and was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Jones is survived by one daughter, Carol Hunter (George) of Madison County; one son, Fred Jones (Gail) of Estill County; two grandchildren, Bennie Lay (Susan) and Elizabeth Templeman (Chip); five great grandchildren, Bennie Adam Lay, Emilee Grace Lay, Addie Templeman, Gracie Templeman, and Jessica Garrison (Billy); a special niece, Eloise Mullins (Gary), and a special nephew, Ricky Wyatt (Vickie).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claud Jones; her sister, Julia Wiggins; her brother, Virgil Wyatt; and one grandchild, Richard Jones.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, August 15, 2024, 11 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Sherl Thomas officiating. Burial was at the Campbell Cemetery. Visitation was held on Wednesday, August 14th from 6-9 p.m.

Catherine Virginia Crafton, age 85, of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at her home following a long illness.
She was born February 24, 1939, in Irvine, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Enoch Stamper, Jr. and Myrtle Tudor Stamper. She was former owner of Crafton Catering Services.
Mrs. Crafton is survived by one daughter, April Lisa Brandenburg (Ivan Vuckovich) of Wisconsin Rapids; one son, Billy Lavaughn Crafton (Connie) of Beavercreek, Ohio; one brother, Donald Gene Stamper of Richmond; one grandchild, Rachel Carol Crafton; and a sister-in-law, Paulette Stamper.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Lee Crafton; her son, Clinton Lee Crafton; five brothers, Johnny, James Virgil, Earnest, Lavaughn, and Billy Stamper; and two sisters-in-law, Deloris Stamper and Betty Stamper.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, August 16, 2024, 12 Noon, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Aaron Stamper and Bro. Mike Davis officiating. Burial was at the Hoover Cemetery. Visitation was held on Thursday from 6-8 p.m.

Deborah Lynn Little, age 68, wife of Lloyd Lee Little, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born February 6, 1956 in Hamilton, Ohio to the late Fred Fountain Watkins and Betty Rose Ballinger. Debbie was a member of the Stanton Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Little; sons, Robert Fountain Little (Dana) and Loyd Lee Little Jr (Carly); a step-son, Gary Little; grandchildren, Bailey Little, Khloe Little, Baine Little, and Kashlyn Little; step-grandchildren, Austin Pearson and Christopher Little (Elaina); her mother, Betty Ballinger; two brothers, James Watkins and John Watkins; a sister, Susan Stepanchuck (Edward); nieces, Jamie Watkins and Shelby Martin; and nephews, Bradley Watkins (Ashley), William W. Watkins (Amy), Casey Watkins (Shristi).
She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Watkins; and a nephew, John W. Watkins.

Betty Martin Burton, age 91, widow of Allen Burton, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, August 19, 2024, at her home on Morris Creek Road in Stanton, Kentucky.
She was born in Spruce, Kentucky, on May 6, 1933, to the late Ellis Martin and the late Bernice Neal Martin.
Betty, a deeply committed Christian, made it a priority to engage in daily prayer and immerse herself in the study of the Bible. She was a faithful member of Stanton Christian Church. Betty, who primarily took care of her home and children, also cherished the opportunity to accompany her husband, Allen, to his job sites and share in his experiences.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Paul Martin; and sisters, Louise Martin and Lillie Adams. Betty is survived by her two sons, “The Best Boys”, Terry Allen Burton (Judy) and Martin Burton (Kathy); one brother, Charles Ray Martin; two sisters-in-law, Sue Martin and Kay Burton Scott; four grandchildren, Jeannie Ruth Snowden (Carl), Shannon Allen Burton (Robin), Seth McCall Burton, and Emily Kanas Burton; numerous great grandchildren; and numerous great, great, grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 12 Noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Greg Webb will be held at the funeral home immediately following visitation at 2 p.m.

Helen F. Brush, age 101, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024. Helen was an Inspector for Vernay Laboratories, Inc. for 12 years and a member of North Huber Heights Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her daughters-in-law, Helen Brush and Opal Sue Brush; and a grandson, Derk Brush.
Helen is survived by her sons, Donald Brush of Kettering and Bill Brush of Kentucky; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; and five great, great, grandchildren.

Gary L. Hollon of Pine Ridge, Kentucky departed this life Friday, August 16, 2024 at the age of 66 years.
He was a son of the late Arkill Hollon and Lorena L. Cox Hollon, born in Campton, Kentucky on February 22, 1958. He was employed by Lockeed Martin in Lexington, Kentucky at the Bluegrass Army Depot.
Mr. Hollon is survived by two brothers, David W. Hollon (Joyce) of Campton and Glenwood Hollon, Jr. (Netta Kay) of Clay City; and two sisters, Wilma Henry of Pine Ridge, and Beverly Hayes (James) of Campton. He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arkill Hollon and Lorena L. Cox Hollon; one brother, Richard Eugene Hollon; and three sisters, Shirley Mae Branham, Donna Kay Halsey and Brenda Snyder.
Visitation was held Thursday, August 22, 2024, beginning at 11 a.m. at Porter and Son Funeral Directors in Campton; followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Doug Elam officiating.
Burial was in the Hollon Family Cemetery, Baker Estates, Pine Ridge, Kentucky.

Carlos Rogers, 78

Carlos Rogers, age 78, passed into the arms of Jesus surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at his home in Stanton, Kentucky.
He was born in Vaughns Mill, Kentucky, on February 21, 1946, to the late George Otis Rogers and the late Hildreth Spencer Rogers. Carlos was deeply devoted to his family. He leaves behind a legacy as a husband of 53 years to his wife, Linda “Cookie” Rogers, as well as a father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and caring neighbor.
Carlos dedicated his days to maintaining the city of Stanton’s water works while finding solace in his leisure activities. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed coon hunting, and spent countless hours honing the skills of his hunting dogs. Carlos’ love for training his dogs paid off, as he and his dogs achieved numerous accolades, including winning the 1st place hunt in the Bluegrass Cur & Fiest Kentucky Classic, earning the title of high point squirrel dog of the year champ, clinching the World Breeders Cup squirrel dog and bench show champion, and being honored as the Sportsman’s Pride High Point Combination dog of the year.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Raven Denson Rogers, Vinson Tom Rogers, Edward Rogers, and Kendall Rogers.
In addition to his wife, Carlos is survived by two daughters, Lisa Crowe (Rusty) and Angie Creech (Stephen), both of Stanton; six brothers, James Rogers, Cebert Rogers (Jane), and Eldon Rogers, all of Stanton; Goble Rogers (Carol) of Ravenna, Mike Rogers (Kathy) of Irvine, and Ray Rogers (Carolyn) of Clay City; one sister, Nannie Moreland (Randolph “Scooter”); two sisters-in-law, Ava Case Rogers and Phyllis Rogers, both of Ravenna; seven grandchildren, Lucas Creech (Megan), Daniel Creech (Hannah), Colin Hale, Jacob Moatts, Jon Creech, Samuel Creech, and Timothy Kyle Hale; and three great grandchildren, Aiden Rowland, Barrett Creech, and Carsen Creech.

Harold Gene Ledford, 80

Harold Gene Ledford, age 80, of Slade, Kentucky, widower of Fran Ledford, passed away peacefully at Clark Regional Medical Center on Saturday, August 17, 2024, with his family by his side.
He was born on September 3, 1943 in Stanton, Kentucky to the late Courtney and Anna Belle McKenzie Ledford.
Gene was a lineman for East Kentucky Power Cooperative, working tirelessly alongside his crew members to build and repair electric lines all over the state, keeping the lights on for millions of Kentuckians.
In more recent years, he could often be found at Bruen’s Restaurant in Stanton, where he was a regular fixture.
Gene was known as a man who knew everyone, and it seemed everyone knew him. To his family and friends, he was the guy who could make or fix virtually anything. Always ready with a warm smile and a greeting of “howdy,” he knew no strangers.
A devoted family man, Gene will be dearly missed by his beloved daughters, Jennifer Ann Koutoulas (Pete) of Winchester and Stacy Lynn Southwood (Shane) of Paris. Others surviving him and mourning his loss include his grandsons, Nicholas Koutoulas and Timothy Koutoulas (Amanda), both of Winchester; granddaughters, Emily Southwood, serving in the United States Air Force, and Erin Southwood of Paris; and one great grandson, Connor Koutoulas of Winchester.
He is also survived by his brothers, Ira Ledford of Winchester and Trulan Ledford (Barbara) of Stanton; and a sister, Ruth Ledford Johnson of Winchester; he also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends to mourn his passing.
Mr. Ledford was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Fran Catron Ledford; his parents, Courtney and Anna Belle Ledford; his brothers, Lawrence Ledford, Carl Ledford, Courtney Ledford Jr., and Truman Ledford; and his sisters, Beulah Ledford Toombs, Bonnie Ledford DeLong, Sylvia Ledford Frost, and Dorothy Ledford Rose.
A celebration of Gene’s life will be held at Wells Funeral Home in Stanton on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 11 a.m., with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21. Officiating will be Rev. Jeff Gaines.
Pallbearers will include Jansen Ledford, Steve Koutoulas, Greg Southwood, Nicholas Koutoulas, Tim Koutoulas, and Emily Southwood.
Honorary pallbearers include Gerald and Ruth Meadows, Steve Ledford, Cynthia McDaniel, Devona Ledford, and the staff at Bruen’s Restaurant.

Brent Allen Johnson, age 59, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester, Kentucky.
He was born in Winchester, on March 17, 1965. Brent was a dedicated mail deliverer for the United States Postal Service.
His compassionate nature was evident in the deep love he held for his family. Brent was very outgoing and enjoyed engaging with people, never considering anyone a stranger. His willingness to go above and beyond for others earned him a reputation as a reliable and caring individual. Brent had a strong sense of loyalty and was fiercely protective of his loved ones. He enjoyed attending horse races and car races, and he had a deep love for rock and roll music, particularly for the works of Bob Seiger.
Brent is preceded in death by his father, Everett Lynn Johnson.
He is survived by his mother, Linda Center Hoskins (Gary); his daughter, Kayla Johnson; his granddaughter, Abigail Jarvis; two sisters, Melissa Montgomery and Tina Haddix (Bobby), both of Stanton; two stepsisters, Carmella Hoskins of Mt. Sterling and Karen Caudill of Georgetown; two nephews, Justin Montgomery and Cody Haddix; two nieces, Brittany Hale and Casey Haddix; and one special great-nephew, Landon Lacy.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Memorial services officiated by Bro. Robert Rice will be held at the funeral home immediately following visitation at 7 p.m.

Michelle Pinks, age 52, of Clay City, Kentucky, passed away Monday August 12, 2024 at the Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester.
She was born August 31, 1971 in Paintsville, Kentucky, to Mack Pinks and Wendy Mann.
Along with her father, Mack Pinks (Pam), she is survived by her daughter, Asia Jackson; one step-son, Marquis Berry; two grandchildren, Makayla and Erielle Berry; her companion of 26 years, Reginald Jackson; and two sisters, Hazel French, and Kayla Spencer.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Wendy Mann; her grandparents, Guy and Angeline Arnett, Ruth and Caleb Pinks; and one brother, Mack Pinks Jr.
Funeral services were held at 12 Noon, Friday August 16, 2024 at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel in Clay City. Friends visited from 10 a.m. till time of service.

Janice Sue Smyth, age 79, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Edgewood Estates Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Frenchburg, Kentucky.
She was born in Leeco, Kentucky, on March 21, 1945, to the late Raymond Rogers and the late Alene Stevens Rogers.
Janice cherished her family and treasured every moment spent with them. Family meant everything to her, and she showed unwavering strength in nurturing those bonds. Janice enjoyed traveling and exploring new places. Her kind-hearted nature allowed her to see the best in everyone and love each person she met. Janice had a passion for cooking, which was evident in every dish she prepared. This passion extended to her work at Dairy Queen, where she managed the restaurant for several years and found deep satisfaction in the work.
In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Smyth, Jr.; two sons, Philip Smyth and Gregory Lloyd Smyth; four brothers, Ronald Rogers, Thomas Rogers, David Rogers, and Junior Rogers; and two sisters, Karen Rogers and Barbara Mays.
She is survived by one son, Derek Smyth of Clay City; one brother, Daniel Rogers; one sister, Shirley Bellamy of Stanton; seven grandchildren: Breanna Nickell (Ramiro Mares), Zachary Smyth, Tommy Kennon, Brandon Kennon (Tiffany), Haley Hall (Becca), Sara Kennison, and Morgan Castle; eleven great grandchildren; one great, great, grandchild, Marli Kennon; and her best friend, Sue Profitt of Clay City.
Visitation was held from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Robert Rice and Bro. James Harold Combs were held at the funeral home at 12 Noon on Friday, August 16th.
Burial was held at Mt. Paran Cemetery in Leeco with Tommy Kennon, Brandon Kennon, Ramiro Mares, Zachary Smyth, Kobe Kennon, and Scott Cornett serving as active pallbearers.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Sue Clemmons (Joe); a sister, Faye Ewen; a granddaughter, Melissa Clemmons; great grandchildren, Christopher Parks and Grant Heidemann; and a great, great grandson, Gunnera Parks.
