Sharon Hessman, 72

Sharon Hessman, age 72, born July 21, 1952, in Estill County, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She grew up in Irvine, Kentucky. She was a lifelong caregiver, nurturing and supporting those around her with boundless compassion.
At the age of 21, Sharon met the love of her life, Franklin Hessman. They shared a beautiful marriage that spanned 51 years. They built a life filled with love, moving between Richmond, Kentucky, and Dodge City, Kansas, before eventually settling in Oregon to be close to their beloved grandchildren.
Sharon spent many years working at Trinity Manor in Dodge City, Kansas. She later retired from South Hills Rehab Center in Eugene, Oregon.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. Sharon adored her two granddaughters, Makenzy and Delanie Stiffler, and cherished watching them grow into young women.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Franklin Hessman; her daughter, Mona (Mathew); and her two stepsons, Daniel and Gerald Hessman (Kay). She is also survived by her three brothers, Ray (Kay), Mort (Ruth), and Greg (Belinda).
Waiting to welcome her at the gates of heaven are her parents, Dessie and Carlis Plowman.
Sharon's legacy of kindness, generosity, and love for her family will forever be remembered by all those fortunate enough to have known her.

Sharon will have a 1 p.m. viewing and a 2 p.m. service at Andreason's Funeral Home, Springfield, Oregon, on Saturday, October 12th.

Charles Michael “Mike” Montgomery, age 57, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024, at UK Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, due to a four-year battle with cancer.
Mike, the son of the late Clayton Charles Montgomery and Brenda Perkins Luster, was born in Madison County on May 4, 1967. He was a 1985 graduate from Madison Central High School. He spent about half of his time in Okeechobee, Florida where he co-owned Tropical Breeze Marina. Gardening, working in flowers and working on boats is how Mike spent his time. His dogs, Karen and Nibbler, are what brought him the most happiness.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his extended family, Doug and Shirley Luster, Paul and Brenda Luster, Charles and Beverly Luster and Goldie Hiten; and several cousins.
Mike was preceded in death by his dad and hero, the man who raised him, James Franklin Luster.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 12 Noon, Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 12 Noon, Tuesday, with Rev. Owen Moody officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Allan Young, Jake Young, Joey Lucas, Lee Fain and Mike Isaacs.
Honorary pallbearers will be Denzel Hall, Thomas Wayne Hill and Jimmy Miller.

Roy Junior Winkler, age 77, a resident of the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the Center following a long illness.
He was born March 16, 1947, in Estill County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Alvin and Dorothy Johnson Winkler. He attended the Stacy Lane Pentecostal Church and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
Mr. Winkler is survived by his daughter, Addie Anderson Winkler, Madison County; one sister, Gladys Smith of Estill County; three brothers, Ray Winkler, Darrell Winkler, and Forrest Winkler, all of Estill County; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Eula Mae Winkler, Mattie Riddell, and Thelma Jane Stamper; and two brothers, Harold Dean Winkler and Austin Gene Winkler.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 6, 2024, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the West Irvine Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Sherry Faye Goolman, 63

Sherry Faye Goolman, age 63, of Winchester, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the Irvine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Sherry was born July 21, 1961, to the late Clyde D, and Mattie Lou Dickerson Crawford.
Survivors include three children, Chad E. Goolman (Joanna), Brad D. Goolman (Melissa) and Stuart D. Goolman (Jennifer); four grandchildren, Dalton, Blake, Kylie and Hannah Goolman; and a significant friend, Rosemary Collins.
Private Graveside services for Sherry Faye Goolman will be held at a later date with Brother Phillip Smith officiating.

Ronnie Harrison, 71

Ronnie Harrison was born August 18, 1953 in Richmond, Kentucky, and departed this life Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, at the age of 71. He was the son of the late Earl John & Elsie Mae McKinney Harrison.
Ronnie is survived by four children, Shauna Boggs (Shane) of Gray Hawk, Rodney Harrison of McKee, Danny Harrison and Randall Harrison both of Sand Gap; two brothers, Donnie Harrison (Donna) of Waneta and LD Harrison of Irvine; and by two sisters, Connie Tankersley of Waneta and Bonnie Snipes (Arnold) of North Carolina. He was blessed with a host of grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by two brothers, Vonnie Harrison and Johnny Harrison; and by a brother-in-law, Michael Tankersley.
Funeral services were held a 2 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2024 at Lakes Funeral Home in McKee with Bro. Mark Horn and Bro. Brian Gabbard officiating. Burial followed in the Harrison Cemetery in Waneta, Jackson County, Kentucky.

Jimmy Allen Riddell, age 59, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Baptist Health Richmond, Kentucky.
Jimmy was born on July 19, 1965, to the late James A. “June Bug” and Eva Mae Farthing Riddell.
Along with his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by one brother, John Riddell; and one sister, Glenna Riddell Caroll.
Mr. Riddell is survived by his loving wife; Linda Riddell, four children, two sons, Chad Allen Riddell (Laken) and Dustin Riddell; two daughters, Rachel Richardson (Mark) and Rebecca Richardson; four grandchildren, Logan Hardy, Gracelenn Laswell, Kinslee Richardson, and Savannah Richardson; one great grandchild, Braylee Hardy; one brother, Eddie Wayne Riddell; one sister, Joann Bernard; one nephew, John Bernard; one niece, Terri Bernard; and one great niece; Brooklyn Stamper; along with many other relatives and friends to miss and mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Jimmy Allen Riddell will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals with Brother Mark Laswell officiating. Family will receive friends from 12 Noon until the time of service. Interment will follow in the Durham Cemetery in Irvine.

Richard Kyle Holbrook, age 74, of Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Kentucky, following a short illness.
He was a United States Army Veteran and was stationed in Korea. He was also a pilot in the Swift Association, a Mason, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of the Shriners. He graduated from Irvine High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University. He was retired from CSX Transportation and was a member of the Irvine First Christian Church.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Holbrook and Opal Sanders Holbrook; and his niece, Andrea Huggins.
He is survived by his sons, Chris Holbrook and Kyle Holbrook; his sister, Sheila Huggins (Jim); his nephew, James Richard Huggins (Gina); his great nephew, Evan Huggins; special friend, Diane Little; and his lifelong friends, Mike Meade and Darrell Richardson.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Tommy Gross Sr., age 63, of Clay City, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024, at his residence.
He was born in Irvine, Kentucky, December 14, 1960, to Roy and Florance Gross.
Mr. Gross is survived by his what is the female version of fiance
fiancée, Wanda Melton; two sons, Howard Gross and Tommy Gross Jr.; two daughters, Gina Creech and Crystal Oliveres; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and a brother, Roy Gross Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Florance Gross; his wife, Joyce Gross; a son, Tony Gross; two brothers, Howard Gross and Larry Gross; and two sisters, Marlene Gross and Earlene Woolery.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at the Grayson Funeral Home in Irvine. Friends visited Tuesday from 11 a.m. till time of the service. Burial was in the Alexander Cemetery in Irvine.

Deborah Puckett Gay Sparks, 73

Deborah Puckett Gay Sparks, age 73, of Irvine, Kentucky passed on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Kentucky.
She was born in Irvine, Kentucky on August 4, 1951, to the late Otha "Bud" and Anna Mae Spivey Puckett.
In addition to her parents, Deborah is preceded in death by two sons, Sherman Gay III and Robert Wayne Gay; and one brother, Billy Lee Puckett.
Deborah is survived by her loving husband, Albert D. Sparks; one son, David Gay (Andrea); two stepsons; Lonnie Sparks (Shelly) and James Sparks (Jennifer); four grandchildren, Jamie Katelyne Sparks, Trae Sparks, Alyssa Sparks and Bryson Sparks. One brother; Larry Puckett (Joyce); one sister, Patricia Lambert; and many nieces and nephews and several more family and friends to mourn her passing. Deborah was loved by many and will be missed by her family and friends.
Deborah was a graduate of Estill County High School and retired from the medical field in 2010. She was an avid Fiesta Ware potter collector and enjoyed taking trips to the Fiesta factory. She also enjoyed sewing and cooking, but her favorite thing was to spend time with her family and friends.
A memorial graveside service will be held on a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens in West Irvine for family and friends. The service will be officiated by the workers of the Non-Denominational Christian Church. Deborah’s friend LaDonna Whorley will speak,

Estill Lee Cole, age 84, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024, in Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born October 31, 1939, in Irvine Kentucky to the late Virgil and Bessie Powell Cole.
Along with his parents, Estill is preceded in death by his loving wife, Jeannie O'Malley; his puppy, Stella; three children, Alexander Cole, Doris Cole and Kelly Owens; numerous brothers and sisters; and two grandchildren; Estill Logan Cole and Raymond Franklin Hulse.
Survivors include one child, Hank Williams (Paula); several brothers and sisters; six grandchildren, Donna Cole, Joshus O’Neil, James O'Neil, Wayne Williams, Harly Williams, and Douglas Owens; several great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and many more family and friends to miss him and mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Estill Lee Cole will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Lewis Home for Funerals. Brother Marvin Neal will be officiating. Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow in the Alexander Cemetery in Irvine.

Norma Horn, age 85, of Richmond, Kentucky passed away at her home on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.
She was born on September 18, 1939, in Irvine, Kentucky, to the late Henry Floyd Horn and Rebecca Ann Puckett Horn. Norma was a member of the Pilot Knob Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Travis, Harold, Charles, and Floyd Horn; and three sisters, Hazel Tipton, Elsie Oliver, and Carol Sue Brewer; along with a brother-in-law, Stanley Trimble.
Survivors include two sisters, Lorene Trimble and Joyce Ann Clemons (Donald Wayne); two nieces, Diana Lee Horn Fowler and Debbie Kaye Oliver Hammonds; two nephews, Jeff Horn (Renata) and Chris Rawlins; one great niece, Brooke Shell (Johnathan); and one great nephew, Devan Horn (Sarah); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to miss her and mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Norma Horn will be conducted on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Pilot Knob Baptist Church with Brother Greg Lakes and Brother Randy Calico officiating. Interment will follow in Madison Memorial Gardens in Richmond. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the church.
Pallbearers will be Devan Horn, Jeff Horn, Chris Rawlings, Chase Hammonds, Ricky Clontz, and Stacy Quinley.

Jackie Fred Rawlins, age 75, of Dark Hollow Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a short illness.
He was born August 20, 1949, in Estill County and was the son of the late Fred and Katherine Elam Rawlins. He retired from Novelis where he worked as a Furnace Operator. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
Mr. Rawlins is survived by his wife, Sharon Ross Rawlins; two daughters, Lindsey Henry and Katelyn Henry, both of Estill County; two sons, C.J. Meeks (Steve) of Michigan and Austin Henry of Estill County; three sisters, LaDonna Fowler (Jeff), Brenda Horn (Terry) and
Carolyn Miller, all of Estill County; two brothers: Glen Rawlins of Estill County and Mike Rawlins (Sandy) of Paintsville; and one grandchild, Bean Greene.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Bert Rawlins, Linda Clark, and Lorraine Rawlins; and two brothers, Doug Rawlins and Robert Rawlins.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, September 27, 2024, 11 a.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Roy Jackson officiating. Burial was at the Cobb Hill Cemetery. Visitation was held on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Anna Lois Watson, 83

Anna Lois Watson, age 83, of Watson Ridge in Ravenna, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 23, 2024, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a long illness.
She was born March 2, 1941, in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Floyd and Fannie Estes Stamper. She was a Homemaker and had lived in Estill County for most of her life.
Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Watson, and she is survived by thre sons, Michael Kevin Watson of El Paso, Texas; and Darren Edward Watson of Ravenna; four sisters, Beverly “Jean” Bailey, Kathy Watson, both of Irvine; Lee Gross and Jo Hall, both of Ohio; five grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Kenneth Kirkpatrick, 86

Kenneth Kirkpatrick, age 86, husband of Linda May King Kirkpatrick, of Stanton, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Stanton Nursing Center. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky, on January 2, 1938, to the late Dorsey Cooper Kirkpatrick and the late Effie Lee Walker Kirkpatrick.
Kenneth was a former inspector with Rockwell International, where he retired, a proud United States Army veteran, a member of Stanton Masonic Lodge # 352, and a cherished member of Stanton First Church of God. His dedication extended to serving as a member of the American Legion Post # 305, where he served as chairman of that body for over 12 years. He was a founding member of the American Legion Post # 305 Honor Guard serving from 2002 until 2020.
Kenneth was a founding member of Powell County Veterans Memorial Park, serving as Secretary and Treasury from 2006-2023. In addition, he was a lifetime member of the AmVets Post 67 in Clay City. In the City of Stanton, Kenneth fulfilled numerous roles, including being involved in planning and zoning, and serving as a volunteer firefighter for the City of Stanton Fire Department. He also held a former position as a Stanton City Council member.
Additionally, Kenneth was a member of the National Rifle Team with the Kentucky National Guard and was a concealed deadly weapons instructor. Beyond his professional commitments, he found joy in activities such as camping, engaging in Rook games at Trent’s Garage, traveling, and in his earlier years, hunting.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Frances Pelfrey Kirkpatrick; one brother, Melvin Kirkpatrick; and three sisters, Ruth Evelyn Rogers, Shirley Kirkpatrick, and Helen Rogers.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Landon Kirkpatrick (Connie) of Clay City; two daughters, Robin Kirkpatrick McKenzie of Richmond and Tonya Crain (Kevin) of Stanton; one brother, Wayne Kirkpatrick (Barbara) of Crab Orchard; two grandchildren, Jared Kirkpatrick (Bri) and Corey Kirkpatrick (Mikayla); and three great grandchildren, Keegan Dale Kirkpatrick, Ellie Kirkpatrick, and Navy Jean Kirkpatrick.
Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky, with Masonic Funeral Rites at 7 p.m. Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Stephen Donithan will be held at the funeral home at 12 Noon on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
Burial will be held at Stanton Cemetery in Stanton with Jarod Kirkpatrick, Corey Kirkpatrick, Carl Rogers, Billy Todd, Edsel Pelfrey, and James Michael Kirkpatrick serving as active pallbearers.

Robert Earl Townsend, age 71, husband of Linda McCoy Townsend, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024 at his home.
He was born May 28, 1953 in Bowen, Kentucky, to the late Chester Lee and Maggie Dempster Townsend.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Townsend; a daughter, Veronica Leah Robinson (Steven); two brothers, Raymonda Ray Townsend (Geraldene) and Roy Vernon Townsend (Delores); two sisters, Gladys Hensley and Orene Hooten; grandchildren, Tiffany Sullivan (Chris Murphy), Robert Kevin Rogers, Timothy Scott Rogers, Steven Keith Robinson, Brandy Nicole Robinson, Chelsea Renee Charles, and Tiffany Murdock; and great grandchildren, Llayton Ryan Roberts, Isabell Maggie Lee Parsons, Evander Grayson Smith, Harper Fallen McKinney, Jameson Robinson, Addilynn Robinson, Rylan Robinson, Novaleigh Creech, Shevelle Charles, Zaylan Charles, Zeppelin Charles, Summera Murdock, Caden Murdock, Caden Murphy, Dakota Murphy, and Molleigh Murphy.
Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Vanessa Carmichael; a grandson, Jason Smith; a great granddaughter, Kacey Creech; and siblings, Lee Talmadge Townend, Lorettia Townsend, Elcaney "Elmer" Townsend, Melvina Townsend, James Townsend, Stanley Eugene Townsend, and William Henry Townsend.
Services were held Wednesday, October 2, 2024, 1 p.m., at Wells Funeral Home. Visitation was on Wednesday 12 Noon - 1 p.m.
Burial was in Resthaven Cemetery with Will Murphy, Danny Townsend, Chris Murphy, Adam Townsend, John Townsend, William David Earl McCoy, and Dustin Clay McCoy serving as pallbearers.

Randle Wireman, age 77, widower of Georgia Rae Wireman, passed away Friday, September 27, 2024 at the VA Medical Center, Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born July 16, 1947 in Stanton, Kentucky, to the late Orville and Cleeda Alexander Wireman.
Survivors include daughters, Kama Orr (Anthony) and Meredith Ballard; a son, Randle Scott Wireman (Crystal); five grandchildren, Logan, Gaige, and Maura Ballard, and Emily and Ethan Wireman; a brother, Bernard Wireman (Rosie); a sister, Darlene Watson; and a brother-in-law, Wayne Everman.
Randle was preceded in death by parents, Orville and Cleeda Wireman; his wife, Georgia Rae Wireman; two sisters, Wanda Everman and Lena Rogers; and two brothers-in-law, Norman Watson and Ray Rogers.
Services will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024, 1 p.m., at Wells Funeral Home. Visitation is on Thursday 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Michael V. Schaefer, age 79, of Clay City, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the Stanton Nursing Home.
He was born August 14, 1945, in Lexington, Kentucky, to Frank and Helen Kincaid. He was a concrete worker.
Mr. Schaefer is survived by his wife, Nina Schaefer; he has a son, Michael Scott Schaefer; eight daughters, Nina Land, Karen Cowell, Kathy Collins, Tammy Schaefer, Victoria Schaefer, Valerie Schaefer, Krystal Dees, and Brittany Tate; 21 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 12 Noon, Monday, September 30, 2024, at the Grayson Funeral Home Chapel in Clay City with Bro. Rob Boyd officiating. Friends visited Monday from 10 a.m. till time of the service. Burial was in the family Cemetery on Virden Ridge Road.

Patricia Joyce Centers, age 60, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at her home in Jeffersonville, Kentucky.
She was born in Winchester, Kentucky, on September 26, 1963, to the late Ollie Centers and the late Ollie Marie Ratliff Centers.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her two brothers, Jimmy Centers and Kenny Centers.
She is survived by her companion, Michael White of Mt. Sterling; her son, Corey Centers of Louisville; three daughters, Eva Marie Centers of Stanton, Shonda Centers of Mt. Sterling, and Chrissy Centers of Morehead; one sister, Geneva Swartz (Benjamin) of Owingsville; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Services are incomplete at this time.

Geneva Eula Jean Martini, 49, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Clark Regional Medical Center, Winchester, Kentucky.
She was born September 3, 1975 in Winchester to the late Billy Burl and Isabell Flynn Watkins.
Survivors include, sons, Travis (Amanda) Watkins, Victor (Tina) Watkins, and Brandon Carr; brothers, Billy Watkins (Ebony) and Arthur Watkins (Sasha); sisters, Billie Jo Watkins and Tina (Darrell); grandchildren, Cameron Watkins and Sabin Watkins; nieces and nephews, Yasmine Bradshaw, Danika Watkins, Treasure Watkins, Kylie Watkins, and Jaden Johnson.
Services will be held Friday, October 4, 2024, 12 Noon, at Wells Funeral Home, Stanton. Visitation is on Thursday, 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Flynn Cemetery with Billy Watkins, Arthur Watkins, Travis Watkins, Victor Watkins, Seth Hall, and Jeff Estes serving as pallbearers.

Bill Logan, age 54, husband of Rhonda Logan, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at his home.
He was born December 30, 1969 in Pontiac, Michigan to the late William and Wilma Brock Logan.
Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Logan; two sons, Dustin Nolan (Jessica) and Hunter Nolan (Stephanie); and sisters, Judy Lewis, Brenda Logan, and Joyce Logan.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Debbie Logan.
Services were held Sunday, September 29, 2024, 2 p.m., at Wells Funeral Home by Bro. Seth Lawson. Visitation was on Saturday, September 28th, 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial in Resthaven Cemetery with Dustin Nolan, Ritchie Rednour, Mike Wills, Jacob Hollon, David Hollon, and Justin Jerick serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers serving, Dana & Mike Seelig, Linda & Mike Burton, Gwen & Kyle Chandler, Tammy & Duane Hollon, Hunter & Stephanie Nolan, and Jessica Nolan.
