Christopher William Popp, age 52, of Irvine, Kentucky departed this life suddenly on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at his home in Irvine.
Chris was born on December 17, 1972, in Irvine, Kentucky to J.C. Popp and Rececca Sue Hickman Popp.
He was preceded in death by his beloved maternal grandparents, Raymond and Gertrude Hickman; an uncle, Richard Hickman; and paternal grandparents, Willie and Violet Popp.
Survivors include his mother, Rebecca Sue Hickman Popp of Irvine, and his father, J.C. Popp (Linda) of Orange Lake, Florida; a very special aunt, Judy Marlene Hickman of Irvine; a sister, Carrie Tackett (David) and nieces Audrey and Sarah Tackett all from Grayson; a sister, Melanie Cole (Daniel) and a brother, Aaron Popp (Judith), from Orange Lake, Florida. He also has numerous other relatives and friends who will miss him and mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Christopher William Popp will be conducted on Thursday, January 23, 2024, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funerals. Brother Gary Powell will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until the time of services at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
The pallbearers will be James Hamilton, Jamie Riddell, L.G. Richardson, Jeff Wiseman, David Tackett, and Gary Powell.

Melissa Dale Henry Neal, age 40, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at her home in Irvine, Kentucky.
She was born March 26, 1984, in Richmond, Kentucky to Shelby and Patricia Dixon Henry.
Melissa was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents; Elbridge and Dema Henry; and her grandfather, Frank Dixon.
Along with her parents, Melissa is survived by two daughters, Katelyn Neal and Hannah Gordon; one sister, Rebecca Henry; her grandmother, Frances Dixon; two nephews, Jacob Birchfield and Andrew Conner; one great nephew, Sutton Scott Birchfield; and one granddaughter, Aubrey Hackworth.
Funeral services for Melissa Dale Henry Neal will be conducted on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in the chapel of Lewis Home for Funeral at 1 p.m. Brother Jerry Rose will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Alexander Cemetery. The Family will receive friend from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m.
Pallbearers will be William Hackworth, Jacob Birchfield, Andrew Conner, Lonnie Neal, Rebeca Henry, and Katlyn Neal.

Mary Helen Waldridge Webb, age 81, of Blue Run Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, January 17, 2025, at the Baptist Health Hospital in Richmond following a short illness.
She was born December 20, 1943, in Anderson County and was the daughter of the late Wilbert and Ruth Langford Waldridge. She had lived in Estill County most of her life and had retired from the Estill County Board of Education where she worked as a school bus driver. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Christian Church and in her earlier years, was a member of the Big Hill Avenue Christian Church.
Mrs. Webb is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Renee Wolpert of Estill County; one son, Jonathan Wilbert Webb (Amanda) of Estill County; two brothers, Claude Waldridge of Anderson County; and Wilbert Waldridge, Jr. of North Carolina; nine grandchildren, Joshua Crowe, Kacey Richardson (Shawn), Kayla Holmes (Adam), Kortney Estes (Adam), Kerrie Wolpert, Ethan Webb (Natalie), Emma Webb, Ellianna Webb, and Eversyn Webb; eleven great grandchildren, Kylee, Jessy, Aliyah, Karleigh, Parker, Ava, Macey, Mary Claire, Cora; and two on the way.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Glenn “Pappy” Webb; her daughter, Glenna Marie Webb Crowe; one sister, Elise Marie Broughton; and four brothers, Norman, Manson, Billy, and J.W. Waldridge.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 21, 2025, 1 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mark Pearson and Bro. Jacob Cabe officiating. Burial will be at the Webb’s Silver Mill Farms Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Pallbearers are Brian McGuire, Ethan Webb, Joshua Crowe, Shawn Richardson, Adam Holmes, Jesse Crowe, Parker Neal, Adam Estes, and Ashley Waldridge.

Randall Dwight Mansfield, age 75, of Deer Run Court in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
He was born May 1, 1949, in Estill County and was the son of the late Lester and Ida Mae Raider Mansfield. He was a

Nicole Mansfield, Randi Slusser (Matt), both of Ohio; Bobbi Martin (Jacob) of Owen County; and Rylee Mansfield of Estill County; three sons, Ralden D. Mansfield of Rowan County; Ralden D. Mansfield, III and Brandon Mansfield, both of Estill County; and several brothers and sisters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Betty Willoughby Grayson, 81

Betty Willoughby Grayson, age 81, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at her residence with family by her side.
She was born December 5, 1943 in Mt. Sterling to Clarance and Ruth Willoughby. She was a member of the Gateway Christian Church. She worked for H & R Block for 56 years, and she owned several Block franchises over those years. She was also a co-founder of Grayson Funeral Home in Clay City, and she was a huge Kentucky Basketball fan.
Betty is survived by a son, Tim Grayson and his wife Aimee of Irvine; six grandchildren, Alena Brooke Jones (Philip), Destinee Davis (Chad), Jordan Grayson, Landon Grayson (Sierra). Elizabeth Bradshaw (Gabe) David Moore; eleven great grandchildren, Mattie, Ean, Jase, Layden, Jayden, Peyton, Wyatt, Kaelyn, Kenna, Aden and Bobby; and a sister, Shirley Setters (Jimmy).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarance and Ruth Willoughby; a daughter, Kim Grayson; and a sister, Mable Greene.
Funeral services were held at 12 Noon, Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the Grayson Funeral Home in Clay City with Bro. Bill Kilgore and Bro. Glenn Emery officiating. Friends visited Thursday from 10 a.m. till time of the service.
Peggy Joyce Little Kayse, 92

Peggy Joyce Little Kayse, age 92, of Irvine, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, January 13, 2025, at the Irvine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Irvine.
Peggy was born on January 9, 1933, in Irvine, to the late James Elmer and Jewel Nichols Little.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Bill Kayse; three children, William Morris Elliott III, LuAnn Elliott, and Jane Elliott Fike and husband Sammy Fike; one brother, James Barkley Little; and one sister, Nellie Jo Little.
Mrs. Kayse was a lifelong member of the 1st Christian Church in Irvine, as well as being a lifelong member of the Order of The Eastern Star and various other organizations. She retired from Southeast Coal Company as the Human Resource Director after 30-plus years.
She is survived by five grandchildren, Kimberly Elliott Isaacs and Chad, Marty York and Staci, Casey Fike and Kim, Heather Elliott Shown and Benny Shown, and William M. Elliott IV and Audra; 15 great grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Joyce H. Elliott; as well as other relatives and friends to miss her and mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Peggy Joyce Little Kayse will be conducted on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 1 p.m. in the 1st Christian Church in Irvine, Kentucky. Pastor Matt Higle and Elder Steve Garrett will be officiating. Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery in Beattyville, Kentucky. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. till the time of services at 1 p.m. at the church.
Pallbearers will be Marty and Kenton York, Casey and Casen Fike, Austin Isaacs, Chase Rawlins, William M. Elliott IV, and Benny Shown.

Kevin Joey Spencer of Winchester, Kentucky, formerly of Campton, Kentucky, departed this life Monday, January 13, 2025 at the age of 50 years, 9 months and 9 days. He was a son of the late Edwin Spencer and Fern Hollon Spencer born in Campton, Kentucky, on April 4, 1974.
He was a Shipping Clerk Coordinator for Advanced Green Components.
Mr. Spencer is survived by his two daughters, Rhiannon Rose (Tyler) and Willow Spencer, both of Lexington; his step-mother, Barbara Nickell Spencer of Campton; two brothers, Edwin Ray Spencer of Lexington and Michael Lynn Spencer (Judy) of Campton; and one sister, Crystal Shawn Spencer Mitchell (Bobby) of Irvine.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Spencer and Fern Hollon Spencer; and one sister, Amanda Dawn Spencer. He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 17, 2025, beginning at 11 a.m. at Porter & Son Funeral Directors, Campton.
Funeral services will follow, beginning at 1 p.m. with Rev. David Neace officiating.

Samuel Gordon Watson, age 82, of Conrad Estates in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, following a short illness.
He was born June 6, 1942, in Estill County and was the son of the late Pearl Watson and Ruth Powell Watson. He was the owner of the Burger Barn in Irvine for 26 years, and he retired from Toyota Manufacturing. He attended the Irvine First Christian Church, and he was a member of the Estill County Golf Club. He had lived in Estill County all his life.
Mr. Watson is survived by his wife, Donna Crouch Watson; his daughter, Shelly Watson Sparks (Lonnie) of Estill County; one brother, Fred Watson (Ann) of Ohio; two grandchildren, Alyssa Pearl Sparks (Zach) and Bryson Lonnie Sparks; and one great grandchild, Karter Brooks Richardson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Watson.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 18, 2025, 2 p.m., at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Altman officiating. Burial will be at the West Irvine Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Charles D. Cox, age 89, of Irvine, Kentucky, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
He was born on August 19, 1935, in Irvine. Charles is the son of the late Robert and Eva M. Cox.
Charles is retired from the State Highway Garage. He loved his westerns and the Three Stooges; he also loved his peanut butter milkshakes from Sonic.
Mr. Cox is preceded in death by three brothers, Glyndon Cox, Earl Cox, and Louis Cox; and one sister, Anna Lee Rogers.
Charles is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eva McKinney Cox; two daughters, Ova Jean Harris (Tony) and Tassie Willis (Leon); two sons, Michael Cox (Cathy) and Eric Cox (Aimee); six grandchildren, Jeremy and Ashley Abney, Amber Harris, Destinee Willis, Zack Reeves, and Tiffany Cox; and three great grandchildren, Lainey Pearson Garrett, Raylee Farthing, and Jasper Hardy.

James Phillip Baker, age 75, of Sandhill Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025, at his home.
He was born April 13, 1949, in Ravenna, Kentucky, and was the son of the late William “Peanut” Baker and Geneva Watson. He retired from Lexmark and the Bluegrass Army Depot and had lived in Estill County most of his life. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nettie Hall Baker; two daughters, Amy Denham (Jimmy) of Mt. Vernon and Stacie Cowen (Adam) of Richmond; one sister, Judy Ferguson of Ohio; four grandchildren, Corey Baker (Nichole), Alex Cowen (Jacob), Katie Denham (Robert), and Austin Kirby; and two great grandchildren, Macy June Baker and Jaclyn Paige Baker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Nellie Holtzclaw.

Daniel Lenuly Abney, age 71, of Blackburn Road in Irvine, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, following a short illness.
He was born November 28, 1953, in Flint, Michigan and was the son of the late Lenlie Audry Abney and Joyce Dustin Abney. He retired from Trane and was a member of the Millers Creek Church of God. He had lived in Estill County for most of his life.
Mr. Abney is survived by his wife, Charlene Isaacs Abney; his daughter, Rebecca Rogers (Shawn); two sisters, Teresa Nealey and Patrica Ann Kershow (Craig); four granddaughters, Morgan Faye Rose (Snowden), Madison Paige McKinney (James), Adrianne Brooke Rogers, and Billie Pierce Smith (Taylor); six great grandsons and five great granddaughters; a daughter-in-law, Denise Painter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Fannie Maxine Abney; and his son, Bradley Everett Abney.

Charles Edward Murphy, age 81, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
He was the son of the late Leonard and Rose Alma Estes Murphy, born in Estill County on November 1, 1943. He had worked at Pieratt’s and had attended Red House Baptist Church. He was also a Baptist minister.
Mr. Murphy united in marriage to Genevee Vest “Peachy” Murphy who passed away on February 27, 2004.
Survivors include one sister, Judy Murphy; his niece, Misty Murphy; and three great nephews, Christopher Shanks, Brian Shanks and Jacob Riddell.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Ray Murphy.
A Committal Service was conducted at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens, 4915 Harrodsburg Road, Nicholasville, Kentucky.

Grace B. Ruble Hensley Berry, age 100, of Waco, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday morning, January 7, 2025, at her granddaughter’s home.
She was a Madison County native, born September 27, 1924, the daughter of the late Rollie & Maude Rose Ruble. She was a member of the Dreyfus Christian Church, and attended the Church of Christ in Irvine, Kentucky. Grace lived most of her life in Madison County and Dayton, Ohio. She was a homemaker and worked at the Blue Grass Depot in the early years, and later at Westinghouse.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Robin Gould (Jeff), and Timothy Casey (Carolyn); her son-in-law, Preacher Bob Casey; three great grandchildren, Adam Gould, Jaleesa Willoughby (Rick), and Candace Gould; five great, great grandchildren, Allisyn Gould, Korbin Kiser, Ryder Gould, Everly Grace Kiser, and Mackenzie Willoughby; as well as nieces, nephews and many other family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Berry was preceded in death by her husbands, Snorri Hensley, Jr. and Jack C. Berry; her daughter, Linda Casey; one infant grandchild, Tonya Casey; and 15 siblings.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m., Friday, January 10, 2025, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond. Burial followed in the Flatwoods Cemetery. Visitation was after 11 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home.

Andrea Leah Smith, 60

Andrea Leah Smith, age 60, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at her home in Winchester, Kentucky. She was born in Lexington to Hubert Benjamin Smith and the late Garnell Sue Kalar Smith.
Andrea proudly graduated with a bachelor’s degree in public relations from Eastern Kentucky University, a milestone that marked the beginning of a fulfilling career. For a decade, she dedicated her talents to the National Rural Electric Association in the heart of Washington D.C., where she served as the editor of the National Newsletter.
Following her time in D.C., Andrea spent 24 years with Kentucky Utilities Corporation in Lexington. There, she played a crucial role in the customer commercial rates and billing department, using her expertise to navigate the complexities of utility services and ensure customer satisfaction.
Outside of her professional life, Andrea was an enthusiastic lover of literature, often losing herself in the pages of captivating novels. Her affection for animals was evident in her deep bond with her late dog, Boo Bear, who brought joy and companionship into her life. Andrea was a fiercely independent spirit who relished her freedom; she took every opportunity to enjoy long walks whenever her schedule permitted.
In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Dillard Smith; her paternal grandmother, Leona Lane Smith; her maternal grandfather, Hillard Kalar; and her maternal grandmother, Arnice Jackson Kalar.
She is survived by her father, Hubert Benjamin Smith (Margaret) of Winchester; one sister, Alissa Angela Smith of Lexington; one cousin, Phillip Gay of Stanton; and a godson, Ryan Jasmann of Washington, D.C.
Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Macedonia Christian Church, 4551 Winchester Road, Lexington, Kentucky. Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Mark Dunn will be held at the church immediately following at 2 p.m.
Burial will be at Faulkner Cemetery in Stanton, with Al Jones, Norman Smith, David Ward, Larry Neavill, Dale Trimmer, and Paul Honeycutt serving as active pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers are Virginia Gilpin, Cindy Parido, Amy Riddell, Pam Hersel, Arlene Dookwah, and Kristin Jasmann.

Nettie Bea Childers, age 83, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025, at her home in Clay City, Kentucky.
She was born in Winchester, Kentucky, February 4, 1941, to the late Virgil Rowland and the late Fannie Hall Rowland.
Nettie was a devoted follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and a cherished member of the First Presbyterian Church in Stanton, where she dedicated over two decades of her life in service to her faith and community.
As an inspector claims examiner at the Bluegrass Army Depot, she approached her work with diligence and integrity, ensuring that every detail was meticulously handled.
Her love for her family was profound and evident; she held her husband, daughters, and grandsons in her heart, showering them with affection and countless little spoiling moments that created lasting memories.
Travel was another passion of Nettie's; alongside her husband, she embarked on many adventures, exploring diverse countries and embracing new cultures, with a particular fondness for ocean cruises.
In addition to her family and travels, Nettie was deeply committed to her community. She played an active role in the Powell County Tourism Commission, promoting local attractions and boosting tourism efforts. Her leadership skills shone brightly during her tenure as both President and Secretary of the Clay City Lions Club, where she tirelessly worked to support various initiatives and improve the lives of those around her. Nettie’s spirit of service and love for her family and community will always be remembered.
In addition to her parents, Nettie is preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Dal Childers; two brothers, Junior Hisle and Ray Rowland; and four sisters, Geatta Reffett, Minnie Gilley, Effie Henry, and Maudie Siebokrob.
She is survived by her two daughters, Vikki Childers Meadows (Michael) of Clay City and Sherry Childers Lucas (Larry) of Winchester; one brother, Verlon Rowland; two sisters, Barbara Booth and Juanita McCuddy; three grandsons, Mitchell McIntyre (Elisha), Michael Meadows II, and William Lucas; four great grandchildren, Titus McIntyre, Micah McIntyre, Felcia McIntyre, and Caleb McIntyre; and numerous nieces and nephews.
No services have been scheduled per her wishes.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to First Presbyterian Church of Stanton, Powell’s Valley Baptist Church of Clay City, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

John Sherman Napier, age 79, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at his home in Stanton, Kentucky. He was born in Stanton on August 13, 1945, to the late John S. Napier and the late Laura Combs Napier.
John was a proud United States Army veteran, having honorably served in the tumultuous Vietnam War.
He was a dedicated member of the Powell County High School graduating class of 1965, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with hard work and achievement. With ambition and a desire to learn, John pursued a bachelor’s degree in industrial arts at Eastern Kentucky University, where he worked diligently to hone his skills.
After completing his education, he became an HVAC technician and a certified electrician, proudly operating his own business, Air Techniques. John approached his work with passion, always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need, whether it was fixing a broken furnace or installing new electrical systems.
In his personal life, he was an avid sports enthusiast. John found immense joy on the tennis court, relishing the competition and the camaraderie it brought. The thrill of water skiing and the exhilaration of snow skiing were also close to his heart, as he embraced the outdoors and sought adventure at every opportunity.
John had a deep passion for basketball that went beyond just playing the game himself. He relished the thrill of dribbling down the court, feeling the adrenaline rush as he made each shot. Even more, John found immense joy in watching his sons and grandsons play, their laughter and determination igniting his own excitement. The moments spent cheering from the sidelines, witnessing their progress and teamwork, filled his heart with pride.
Additionally, John was an avid fan of the UK basketball team, often immersing himself in their games, celebrating every victory, and analyzing each play with enthusiasm. The sport, in all its forms, brought him unparalleled joy and a sense of community.
John was a skilled private airplane pilot, known for his keen sense of adventure and passion for aviation. As a dedicated member of the Powell County Flying Club, he spent countless hours in the cockpit, soaring through the skies with a sense of freedom that few could understand. In addition to his love for flying, John had a deep appreciation for photography.
What truly set John apart was his warm personality and infectious sense of humor. He had a unique ability to connect with people, making them feel valued and appreciated. His loyalty as a friend was unwavering, and those who knew him were fortunate to have such a compassionate and genuine individual in their lives.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his son, John Carlon Napier; and two sisters, Linda Carol Napier and Janet Sue Napier Storm.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lydia Napier; one son, Brady Napier of Stanton; one special friend, Gale Means; four grandchildren, John Dillon Napier, Brady Austin Napier, Peyton Drew Napier, and Landon Christian Napier; one niece, Laura Wesley Storm Woosley of Katy, Texas; and several dear cousins.

Bobby Ray "Bob" Shouse, age 77, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025, at his home in Stanton, Kentucky. He was born on March 12, 1947, to the late John A. Shouse and the late Carly Fox Shouse.
Bobby was a proud United States Navy veteran, having honorably served his country with unwavering dedication.
With a heart full of love for his family, he cherished the moments spent with his three step-grandchildren, filling their time together with laughter and joy.
Known affectionately as "Joker," Bobby had a knack for humor, delighting everyone around him with his quick wit and playful spirit. He had an endearing habit of giving everyone he encountered a unique nickname, a testament to his thoughtful nature and genuine interest in others. A man of immense generosity, Bobby would go out of his way to help those in need, ready to give the shirt off his back without a second thought.
He found solace in the tranquility of fishing, often relishing the peaceful moments by the water. A devoted fan of the University of Kentucky basketball team, he cheered enthusiastically with every game.
For forty years, Bobby was the proud owner and driver of Shouse Trucking; his passion for the road was evident in the way he spoke about his work. He loved the freedom of the open highway, relishing the opportunity to travel and explore the many places his career allowed him to see. Bobby took immense pride in maintaining the highest standards for his business, ensuring that everything was organized and that deliveries were always made on time. Each journey was not just a job for him, but an adventure filled with stories and experiences that shaped his life.
In addition to his parents, Bobby is preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Kathy Cunningham; four brothers, James Shouse, Conley Shouse, Joe Shouse, and Roy Shouse; and five sisters, Gladys Wagner, Lovie Brinkman, Inex Butt, Mary Clems, and Lucille Powe.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila Shouse; two daughters, Karen Moore (John) of Washington State and Bobbie Lynn Humfleet of Florence, Kentucky; one sister, Betty Conley of Zena, Ohio; grandchildren, Casey Sizemore (Cody) and numerous others; three special great grandchildren, Isaiah Sizemore, Elijah Sizemore, and Josiah Sizemore, and numerous other great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services officiated by Bro. Steve Skinner will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025.
Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Frankfort, Kentucky, with Cody Sizemore, Kevin Hayton, Kevin M. Hayton, Nick Townsend, Brandon Sizemore, Dakota Sizemore, and Glenna Jones serving as active pallbearers.

She was born July 30, 1954 in Mount Clemmons, Michigan to the late William Townsend and the late Martha Ireland Parker.
Survivors include sons, Timothy Vaughn and Christopher West; a daughter, Tammy Townsend; a sister, Beverly Washburn; five brothers, Clarence Townsend, George Townsend, Fred Townsend, Frank Townsend, and William Townsend; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Tina West.

Ruth Janice Logan, age 91, widow of Elvin Logan, 340 1st Street, Clay City, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at her home.
She was born September 1, 1933 in Clay City to the late Harry Ray and Anna Belle Bount Melroy.
Survivors inlude one son, David Catron (Connie); one daughter, Delora Kennon (Mike); six grandchildren, Michelle Wills, Latisha Beach, Shane Catron, Michael Shane Kennon, Brandon Banks, and Kayla Banks; 13 great grandchildren and 13 great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a son, Ray Catron; and grandsons, Elvin Ray Catron and Donnie Catron.
Services will be held at Wells Funeral Home, Stanton, on Saturday, January 18, 2025, 1 p.m., by Bro. John Combs. Visitation will be Saturday, 12 Noon until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Kennon Cemetery with Shane Catron, Michael Shane Kennon, Jacob Sewell, Logan Sewell, David Beach, Delora Kennon, and Mike Kennon serving as pallbearers.

Kenneth D. Fugate, age 64, of Clay City, Kentucky, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at University of Kentucky Saint Claire Hospital in Morehead, Kentucky.
He was born March 12, 1960, in Hazard, Kentucky to the late Bert Fugate and Fannie Combs Ritchie. Ken had an incredible love for music, embracing everything from Christian and Gospel to Rock and Bluegrass. His connection to music was tangible as he skillfully played both electric and acoustic guitars, which brought him immense happiness. His deep affection for his wife, children, and grandchildren was evident in the quality time he cherished with them, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
One of his prized possessions was his classic 1966 Chevelle, a car that he often spent hours working on and enjoyed taking it for drives. Ken also enjoyed the sense of freedom when riding his motorcycle. Those who knew him would describe him as one of the most selfless people, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh. His remarkable sense of humor brought light to everyone around him, and it was clear that Ken approached life with unwavering happiness and a nurturing spirit. His presence will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his dear friend, J.D. McClure.
In addition to his mother, Ken is survived by his wife, Teresa Spencer Fugate of Clay City; a daughter, Crystal Roberson (Daniel) of Owingsville; a son, Johnny Cook of Stanton; a daughter, Misty Rose of Alabama; three sisters, Florence King (Melvin) of Clay City, Charlene Spencer (Linville) and Shirley Miller (T.K.), both of Breathitt County; one brother, Gary Smith of Breathitt County; eight grandchildren, Gabe Crabtree (Paley), Madison Crabtree, Jacob Roberson, Colby Cook (Ashton), Colton Cook, Kaylee Rose, Gavin Rose, and Tate Rose; one great grandchild, Esmerae Rose; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 3-7 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services were held at the funeral home immediately following at 7 p.m.

Sherwin Cody Sheffield, age 31, of Frames Branch Road, Clay City, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester, Kentucky.
He was born in Lexington, Kentucky, on July 11, 1993, to the late John William Sheffield and Anna Abrams Sheffield. Cody proudly graduated from Powell County High School in the Class of 2012, where he earned a reputation as a dedicated and spirited member of the successful Pirates football team.
His athletic prowess and teamwork laid a strong foundation for his career, which flourished at the Ale-8 One Bottling Company, where he excelled as a warehouse supervisor, demonstrating his leadership and commitment to excellence.
Deeply rooted in his faith, Cody was a devout believer in the God of the Bible and practiced the principles of the Baptist faith, which guided him in life.
He was the unwavering rock that held his family together. Cody cherished his mother with profound love and devotion, and as a beloved uncle, he served as an inspiring role model for his nephews, instilling in them the values of kindness and perseverance.
A selfless soul, Cody had a remarkable ability to bring joy to those around him, effortlessly lifting spirits with his great sense of humor and vibrant personality. His warm presence left an indelible mark on everyone he met, making the world a brighter, happier place.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one sister, Jessica Sheffield of Campton; one brother, John Leonard Sheffield of Florida; one half-brother, Terry Charlton of Clay City; and two nephews, Conner Davidson and Braydon Barnes.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services officiated by Bro. Fred White and Bro. Brad Epperson will be held at the funeral home at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2024.
